DESCRIPTION:We have invited John B. Stav from a research team in Norway sp
 ecialized on videoconference systems\, and Tandberg which is the world’s
  largest supplier of videoconference systems to have a talk and demonstrat
 ion on how to use next generation videoconference systems in research.\nJo
 hn B. Stav has extensive experience and expertise of using state of the ar
 t 2nd generation multipoint videoconferencing solutions within blended lea
 rning and distance learning solutions\, as well as visual collaboration te
 chnologies exploring virtual mobility/collaboration. Sør-Trøndelag  Univ
 ersity College (HiST) offers currently more than 1000 hours per year of vi
 deoconferencing adapted training. He has initiated several EU-founded R&D 
 projects targeting effective use of visual communication\, e.g. constructi
 on of an Independent European Audio-Visual Knowledgebase (completed in 200
 6)\, and validation of new models for in-company based training processes 
 exploring high quality video communication. During the last 2 years he has
  published 25 articles in journals/international conferences targeting eff
 ective use of state of the art composite visual communication and collabor
 ation services within different application areas and disciplines.\n\nJohn
  B. Stav also has a PhD degree in physics from NTNU (Trondheim\, Norway) w
 ithin "Radiatve gluon effects in massive quark-antiquark production in col
 lisions of polarized electrons and positrons". He has published several ar
 ticles (Phys Rev. D) targeting polarizaton effects in electron-positrons c
 ollisions\, as well as quark and anti-quark polarization effects in high e
 nergy electron positron annihilations. He should therefore have a good und
 erstanding of physicists’ communication needs.\n\nTandberg delivers stat
 e of the art videoconference systems and have been developing new technolo
 gies to make communication with videoconference systems more effective and
  easy to use. Tandberg will demonstrate how to use next generation videoco
 nference systems and how these tools can be used in a research environment
