DESCRIPTION:The collaboration meeting on X-Band Accelerator Structure Desi
gn and Test Programs is an annual meeting to discuss aspects of design\, m
anufacturing\, and testing of high-gradient microwave linear accelerators
based on room-temperature accelerator structures.\n\nThe primary goal of t
his effort is to push forward the relevant technologies to a level that is
readily applicable to highly reliable\, higher-gradient accelerators of v
arious scales\, such as those needed for future linear colliders.\n\nThe m
ain topics of this meeting are structure design and associated test progra
ms. The discussions aim to establish a better understanding of the frequen
cy scaling of the limiting gradient\, as well as its dependence on materia
l\, surface preparation\, pulsed heating\, etc. To this end\, the meeting
will allot a reasonable share of time for discussions on the RF breakdown
phenomenon from both theoretical and experimental standpoints. Test facili
ties and the collaborative development of such facilities around the world
will be discussed. We will also attempt at this meeting to gain perspecti
ve on the ultimate gradient reach.\n\nRecent developments will be discusse
d with the goal of firmly establishing the gradient reach of these technol
ogies and furthering their practical application to specific accelerator d
 esigns.\n\nhttp://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=30911

DESCRIPTION:Dear Colleagues\,\nWe are so regrettable to announce that we c
anceled Collaboration Meeting on X-band Accelerator Structure Design and T
est Program of this year supposed to be held at KEK in Tsukuba\, Japan fro
m May 16th to 18th\, 2011. The earthquake on March 11 brought significant
impacts on all of KEK activities. Some of the KEK facilities including KEK
B Linac and Nextef were damaged. The electric power for KEK is being regul
ated severely within a limited amount due to the potential shortage of the
electric power supply in Kanto area. We expected things may become better
during the last few weeks\, however\, we now understand this is not the c
ase. The unsettled situation of nuclear plants in Fukushima in Japan is an
other concern of us. We finally made the decision to cancel the meeting at
KEK on March 31. We are so sorry this may bring you inconvenience.\nOn th
e other hand\, it is our great pleasure to hear that SLAC colleagures offe
red to hold the 5th meeting this year at SLAC exactly on the same schedule
\, May 16-18. Prof Sami Tantawi chairs the meeting and your contact person
is Ms. Naomi Nagahashi. They will organize the new meeting at SLAC. The m

he fourth Baseline Technical Review (BTR)\, which will focus on Conventio
nal Facilities and Siting. All changes made to the CFS 2007 Reference Desi
gn during the Technical Design Phase are to be presented by the CFS Techni
cal Group for review by the GDE Project Manager Review team. Each change w
ill be evaluated on the basis of performance\, cost and impact on related
systems. The Review team will produce a report to the GDE covering content
\, findings and decisions made at the BTR. \n\nIt is expected that the CFS
BTR will be the last BTR leading up to the Technical Design Report. It re
presents the culmination of the Accelerator System and Main Linac Technolo
gy Baseline Technical Reviews held in the last 9 months. Each of the earli
er BTR's included statements of impact on CFS. It is important to identify
and summarize these at the final BTR. \n\nAlso\, as the final BTR\, any o
utstanding system-wide changes that have not already been properly complet
ed should be presented and reviewed. The list of such changes will be draf
ted by the Project Managers\, Cost Engineers and Technical Area Groups and
  may include\, for example\, path-length related topics.\n\nhttp://indico.

DESCRIPTION:The collaboration meeting 9-11.5 will have several focuses:1)
 The work-programme 2012-16\nThe work-programme for 2012-2016 has been defi
ned and during the last months also tuned to the resources currently avail
able at  CERN for the period\, and the resources available in the collabo
ration (based on the input received in the November collaboration meeting)
. This meeting will be focused on the status of the work\, next steps\, an
d to identify concerns about contributions and planning. The meeting will
allow for formal and informal meetings and contacts at work-package level
to review the status.2) Information about the project status\nThe accelera
tor and detector CDR as presented to the CERN Scientific Policy Committee\
, as well as the CTF3 status and plans. We will have presentation of some
of the recent physics performance studies and ideas related to a staged im
plementation.3) Discussion about key challenges for the future (2012-2020)
\nWe will have three topical sessions related to future challenges\; Gradi
ent and energy reach of CLIC - focussing on X-band testing capabilities\,
Drive beam concept and initial project (CLIC zero) 2016-2022 including its
preparation\, and finally CLIC luminosity issues and related (system) tes
ts4) Collaboration Board and issues\nThere will be a collaboration board w
here among others we will elect the next CB chair\, and discuss how we int
 egrate/interact with a future global LC organization.\n\nhttp://indico.cer

DESCRIPTION:The objective of the workshop is to bring together experts wor
king on machine protection systems for accelerator facilities with high br
illiance or large stored beam energies\, with the main focus on linear acc
elerators and their injectors. The workshop should establish a coherent vi
ew of failure modes and consequences for linear accelerators and review th
e current state of the art in machine protection systems. The participants
will benefit from the experience of colleagues who have designed\, commis
sioned and operated such systems.\n\nThe workshop will provide input to th
e design of machine protection systems at future accelerators\, in particu
lar for CLIC and ILC. It also should promote synergies in the development
of protection systems at different accelerators.\n\nhttp://indico.cern.ch/

DESCRIPTION:Vacuum arcs are a concern in essentially every vacuum electron
ic device. Sometimes they form the basis for device operation\, but all to
o often they are the primary failure mode. They are often described as hig
h voltage breakdown (HVB) and electrostatic discharge (ESD) as well. The p
urpose of this workshop is to bring together scientists and engineers to d
iscuss the latest improvements in our understanding of vacuum arcs\, inclu
ding their initiation and evolution.\nSpecific topics include:\n\n High e
lectric field gradient devices (e.g.\, accelerators)\n	\n Effect of elect
 rode material processing\n	\n Material/electrode damage characterization\
n	\n Primary mechanisms for discharge\n	\n Diagnostic methods for interr
 ogating breakdown\, surface structure\, plasma constituents\, etc.\n	\n M
odeling and simulation\n\nWe welcome new areas of investigation in additio
