DESCRIPTION:Significant work is already under-way to establish interoperab
ility between collaborating grid infrastructures around the world. The Gri
 d Interoperability Now (GIN\nhttp://forge.ogf.org/sf/wiki/do/viewPage/proj
ects.gin/wiki/HomePage)\nworking group within the Open Grid Forum (OGF) ha
s hosted technical discussions between major grid operators that have impr
oved the interoperability between these systems.\n\nThe grid infrastructur
es are continuously expanding their user bases and providing support to a
wider range of application domains. As the infrastructures grow in size an
d reliability\, the user communities they support depend on them more and
more. The grid infrastructures are critical to the success of major intern
ational scientific undertakings such as the Large Hadron Collider. Other s
cientific instruments will be coming online around the world in the next f
ew years for which international production grid infrastructures will be e
ssential.\n\nThe technical work of the GIN group is continuing\, providing
increased levels of interoperability that will consequently reveal the ne
ed for an agreed policy of accessibility across the combined infrastructur
es to support new instruments and their user communities.\n\nCurrently the
re is no forum that brings together the leadership of the major grid struc
tures and hence there is a no mechanism for discussing policy and strategy
across the combined infrastructures.\n\nWe propose to establish a forum t
o address such issues and are tentatively scheduling a first meeting at OG
 F22 (Boston\, USA\, February 2008) where the aim will be to:\n * defin
e the mandate and membership of the forum\n\n * determine the governan
ce structure and frequency of its meetings\n\n * identify those areas
of infrastructure policy and strategy where agreement would be necessary
\n\n * explore the relationship of the forum with other bodies etc.\n\

DESCRIPTION:With the establishment of large scale multidisciplinary produc
 tion Grid infrastructures such as the EGEE\, OSG\, DEISA\, TeraGrid\, or N
AREGI\, the concept of Virtual Organizations (VO) has been constantly refi
ned and efficient management of VOs and their policies is becoming one of
the central topics for these infrastructures. \nThis workshop is the thir
d of the series on topics in production Grids that was initiated at HPDC-1
5 with the workshop on Management of Rights in Production Grids and follow
ed by the workshop on Data Handling in Production Grids at HPDC-16. \nThis
workshop will bring together practitioners and researchers on all aspects
of VO management to discuss capabilities of existing technologies\, ident
ify areas where new functionalities are needed and explore how latest rese
arch results can be integrated into the software stack and procedures of
production Grids. \nTopics include\, but are not restricted to:\n Scalabl
e VO management systems\, establishment and closure of VOs \n Mapping VO p
olicies to the underlying resources \n Managed vs. opportunistic resource
usage\, usage across VOs \n Data sharing between VOs \n\nSee HPDC homepag
 e for logistic details.\n\nhttp://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?conf
