         By the time the LHC starts to take data\, it will have been more t
 han a\n        decade since the "Extra Dimensions" went from being an abst
 ract toy for string\n        theorists to providing testable predictions f
 or today's high energy colliders.\n        The two general purpose experim
 ents\, ATLAS and CMS\, will provide the\n        perfect opportunity for i
 nvestigating ED signatures from 14 TeV pp collisions at\n        the LHC. 
 I will outline current LHC ED analysis prospects. In addition to the\n    
     well-known "classic" KK resonance searches\, I will also introduce a n
 ew signature\n        from ED models with extra symmetries.\n\n        M.K

DESCRIPTION:Summary:\nThe Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) at the LHC has taken
  a lot of useful data in 2008. In this seminar\, I will present a brief ov
 erview of the first data taken with the CMS both from the first LHC circul
 ating beams on September 10\, 2008 and the following days\, and also the c
 osmic muon data from May 2008 to November 2008 with more emphasis on the r
 esults from the hadron calorimeter and the tracker. With these data\, we w
 ere able to align the individual components of subdetectors\, validate cor
 relations between subdetectors\, synchronize the timing of the sub parts o
 f each detector and also timing of subdetectors with respect to each other
 . Moreover\, these data helped us understand and improve the triggers\, so
 urces of noise\, the effects of the CMS magnetic field of 3.8 T\, test the
  full chain of data flow\, and the monte carlo simulations. The cosmic muo
 n data also provided some simple physical measurements showing that CMS wi
 th its millions of different subcomponents works without any major problem

DESCRIPTION:Summary:\nThe inclusive production rate of the rho+- vector me
 son in hadronic Z decays is measured with the ALEPH detector at the LEP co
 llider. A total of 3.2 million hadronic events are selected from data reco
 rded between 1991 and 1995. Decays of rho+- --> pi0 + pi+- are reconstruct
 ed for xE>0.05 and xp>0.05 where xp=p?/pbeam and xE=E?/Ebeam. The average 
 rho+- multiplicity per hadronic event is evaluated to be N = 2.59+-0.03+-0
 .15+-0.04 where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. 
 The third error is from the uncertainty in the extrapolation to xp=xE=0. T
 he rates and differential cross-section are compared with Monte Carlo mode
 l predictions and OPAL measurements. The 'Ranking' Method which is a backg
 round reduction technique and Residual Bose-Einstein correlations are foun

DESCRIPTION:With the luminosity upgrade of the LHC machine\, the Muon Syst
 em of the ATLAS experiment at CERN will also need \n  a detector upgrade i
 n the highest rapidity region. An R&D activity has started with the aim to
  develop large detectors \n  based on the bulk-Micromegas technology to be
  used in the ATLAS Muon Spectrometer. Micormegas detectors are good \n  ca
 ndidates to construct large muon chambers that combine trigger and trackin
 g capability and can cope with the high particle \n  rates expected at SLH
 C. A medium size Micromegas prototype has been built and evaluated in the 
 laboratory and \n  in beam tests at CERN. Basic ideas of the ATLAS Muon up

DESCRIPTION:The CMS(Compact MuonSolenoid) detector will observe high trans
 verse momentum jets produced in the ﬁnal state of proton-proton collisio
 ns at the center of mass energy of 14 TeV. These data will allow us to mea
 sure jet shapes\, deﬁned as the fractional transverse momentum distribut
 ion as a function of the distance from the jet axis. Since jet shapes are 
 sensitive to parton showering processes they provide a good test of Monte 
 Carlo event simulation programs. In the references we present a study of j
 et shapes reconstructed using calorimeter energies where the statistics of
  all distributions correspond to a CMS data set with 10pb−1 of integrate
 d luminosity. We compare the predictions of the Monte Carlo generators PYT

 ed in 1997 with support of State Planning Organization (SPO) of Turkey und
 er coordination of Ankara University. After completing Feasibility Report 
 (FR\, 2000) and Conceptual Design Repot (CDR\, 2005)\, third phase of proj
 ect is started in 2006 as an inter-universities project with support of SP
 O. Third phase of project has two main scientific goals: to write Technica
 l Design Report (TDR) and to establish an Infrared Free Electron Laser (IR
  FEL) facility as a first step. TAC collaboration include ten Turkish Univ
 ersities:  Ankara\, Gazi\, İstanbul\, Boğaziçi\, Doğuş\, Uludağ\, Du
 mlupınar\, Niğde\, Erciyes and S. Demirel Universities. \n\nIt is planne
 d that the first facility will be an IR FEL facility based on 15-40 MeV el
 ectron linac and two optical cavities with 2.5 and 9 cm undulator magnets 
 to scan 2-250 microns wavelength range. Main purpose of facility is to use
  IR FEL for research in material science\, nonlinear optics\, semiconducto
 rs\, biotechnology\, medicine and photochemical processes. \n\nIn this stu
 dy\, aims\, main parts and main parameters of TAC and TAC IR FEL projects 
 are explained. Road map of TAC project is given. National and internationa
 l collaborations are explained. The first facility and TDR studies are pla
 nned to be completed in 2012. Construction phase of TAC will cover period

 ata sample corresponding to 10 pb -1 of integrated luminosity at a pp coll
 ision energy of 10 TeV to test CMS plans to search for new particles decay
 ing to two high energy jets (dijets). By construction the measured dijet m
 ass spectrum agrees with the QCD prediction. Applying our search to this p
 seudo-data sample\, we set upper limits on the cross section for dijet res
 onances. This analysis shows that CMS will be sensitive to new particles d
 ecaying to dijets\, and if we measured this pseudo-dataset produced from Q
 CD alone\, we would exclude at 95% confidence level the following new part
 icles: axigluons and flavor universal colorons\, excited quarks and E6 Diq

 s The launch of Fermi has started a new era in the study of gamma-ray puls
 ars. Before the operation of Large Area Telescope (LAT) on Fermi only six 
 pulsars were known to have pulsed emission in the gamma-ray energy band co
 mpared to more than a thousand pulsars emitting in the radio band. With th
 e excellent sensitivity of LAT in the energy regime most relevant to the p
 ulsar research\, the number of the gamma-ray pulsars has gone over 55 afte
 r a year and half of sky-survey observations\, increasing the number of kn
 own gamma-ray pulsars about a factor of ten. Along with the detection of m
 any known radio pulsars\, 24 pulsars that had not seen in any other wavele
 ngths before have been discovered through their gamma-ray pulsations alone
 . Gamma-ray pulsations have also been detected from more than 14 milliseco
 nd pulsars for the first time\, confirming them as gamma-ray sources. Deta
 iled studies of the pulse profiles and spectra of these pulsars improved o
 ur understanding of pulsed emission and allowed us to test the predictions
  of the current high-energy pulsed emission models. In this presentation\,
  I will summarize the pulsar results from Fermi-LAT and our current unders
 tanding of the pulsars.\n ================================================

 ain contribution to the process e+e- --> gamma gamma comes from QED by mea
 ns of an ordinary electron exchange at t- and u-channel. Because of the tw
 o photons in the final state the experimental signature of the process is 
 clean\, so the e+e- --> gamma gamma process is a very convenient tool to f
 ind some signals for physics beyond the SM. Any deviation from the QED pre
 dictions can be interpreted as a sign of new physics beyond the SM. In thi
 s work\, we study the excited electron contribution to the e+e- --> gamma 
 gamma pair annihilation process at future high energy linear colliders. He
 re we assume chiral magnetic couplings of spin-1/2 excited electrons to ph

 surement is presented of the energy flow in the forward region (3.15  8 Ge
 V at sqrt(s) of 900 GeV and 2360 GeV and with ET\,jet > 20 GeV at \nsqrt(s
 ) of 7000 GeV. The measured forward energy flow is found to be significant
 ly different \nbetween the two event classes. The result of the forward en
 ergy flow measurement for \nthe two event classes is compared to predictio
 ns from Monte Carlo event generators \nthat were tuned to describe the cha
 rged particle spectra seen at central rapidities. \nWe present studies of 
 forward jets reconstruction using the inclusive events from proton-proton 
 collisions \nat sqrt(s)= 7 TeV in CMS. The jets are reconstructed with the
  anti-kT (R = 0.5) algorithm in the \nHadronic Forward (HF) calorimeter in

  \n\n	In the LHC operations era analyzing the data becomes a challenging 
 task. \n\n	Large data volumes from the detectors and simulations require 
 a large number \n\n	of CPUs and storage space for data processing. In or
 der to meet this challenge a global \n\n	network known as the Worlwide LH
 C Computing Grid was built. This is the most \n\n	sophisticated data taki
 ng and analysis system ever built. The Grid serves to thousand \n\n	of ph
 ysicists to analyze the complex collision events. The ATLAS experiment at 
 the LHC \n\n	has recorded almost 1 billion events in the year 2010. The 
 ATLAS Grid Computing Model \n\n	is reviewed in this talk as to how the 
 ATLAS data is stored\, distributed and processed. An \n\n	emphasis is giv

DESCRIPTION:\n	\n		\n			The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) study proposes 
 a multi-TeV\, high luminosity\, electron-positron linear collider in order
  to fulﬁll the current need for a lepton collider. The study has been st
 arted in the late 80s at CERN and currently is a joint effort with a colla
 boration of 40 institutes. An innovative scheme of high peak RF power prod
 uction for the high accelerating gradient has been proposed for CLIC. The 
 so called "two-beam scheme" consists of two beams that are running paralle
 l to each other. One of the beams is to be accelerated for the collision e
 xperiments and called "the main beam". The second beam of the CLIC scheme 
 is "the drive beam" and will be employed for the power production. The qua
 lity of the main beam acceleration depends on the stability of the power t
 hat is generated by the drive beam. Therefore\, the optimization of the dr
 ive beam production with the proper time structure and within the required
  beam dynamics tolerances is one of the most important accelerator physics
  aspects of the project. \n		\n			Currently in the conceptual level\, the 
 baseline design of the drive beam injector consists of a thermionic gun. T

DESCRIPTION:\n	\n		\n			The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) study proposes 
 a multi-TeV\, high luminosity\, electron-positron linear collider in order
  to fulﬁll the current need for a lepton collider. The study has been st
 arted in the late 80s at CERN and currently is a joint effort with a colla
 boration of 40 institutes. An innovative scheme of high peak RF power prod
 uction for the high accelerating gradient has been proposed for CLIC. The 
 so called "two-beam scheme" consists of two beams that are running paralle
 l to each other. One of the beams is to be accelerated for the collision e
 xperiments and called "the main beam". The second beam of the CLIC scheme 
 is "the drive beam" and will be employed for the power production. The qua
 lity of the main beam acceleration depends on the stability of the power t
 hat is generated by the drive beam. Therefore\, the optimization of the dr
 ive beam production with the proper time structure and within the required
  beam dynamics tolerances is one of the most important accelerator physics
  aspects of the project. \n		\n			Currently in the conceptual level\, the 
 baseline design of the drive beam injector consists of a thermionic gun. T

DESCRIPTION:CERN Axion Solar Telescope (CAST) experiment is searching for 
 axions coming from the sun. Inside transverse magnetic fields\, axions can
  be converted into x-rays\, which can be detected by x-ray detectors. The 
 expected signal in CAST is 1-10 keV range. Low noise and low background de
 tectors are highly necessary to increase sensitivity of the experiment. Mi
 cro Mesh Gaseous Structure (micromegas) detectors have been used in CAST s
 ince the beginning\, providing a good energy and spatial resolution for CA
 ST's needs. CAST has been intensely studying micromegas detectors to devel
 op new technologies\, decrease background levels\, increase stability and 
 understand the nature of the background. While in 2003\, there was 1 micro
 megas\, 1 Time Projection Chamber (TPC) and 1 Charged Couple Device (CCD)\
 , improvements in micromegas detector encouraged CAST to increase the numb
 er to 3\, replacing TPC with 2 micromegas detectors. In some periods durin
 g CAST run\, a special phenomena called "Ultra low background" is observed
 \, where for a few days background rate decrease to ~1×10^{-7}s^{-1}cm^{-
 2}keV^{-1}. To investigate this\, simulations and shielding tests are bein
 g done at the Canfranc Underground Laboratory. If this low background is i
 ndeed not a systematic effect\, that can open new possibilities on rare ev

DESCRIPTION:We give an overview of the most recent results on top quark pr
 operties and interactions\, obtained using data collected with the CMS exp
 eriment during the years 2010-2011 at 7 TeV center-of-mass energy. Measure
 ments are presented for both the inclusive top pair production cross secti
 on\, using the dilepton\, lepton+jets\, hadronic and tau channels\, as wel
 l as for various differential cross sections. The results are compared wit
 h standard model predictions and allow to search for possible presence of 
 new physics. In particular\, measurements of the top pair invariant mass d
 istribution are used to search for new particles decaying to top pairs. We
  extract the mass of the top quark using various methods\, including indir
 ect constraints from the measured cross section. We measure total and diff
 erential cross sections for the electroweak production of single top quark
 s in both t- and tW-channels\, also useful for constraining the CKM matrix
  element Vtb. Further results include measurements of the W helicity in to

DESCRIPTION:We have constructed a preonic model starting from a coloured f
 ermionic preon and by postulating a new symmetry\, MUSY. This new symmetry
  is defined via the MU number involving colour\, charge and spin propertie
 s of the preons. We show that all the known fields of the Standard Model (
 SM) can be constructed using the fermionic preon and 6 preonic scalars\, i
 ts MUSY partners. As an example\, we present well known \\beta-decay proce
 ss at MUSY level. MUSY also forbids some processes such as proton decay (p
 reserving the baryon number) and hence\, it is compatible with current exp
 erimental results. In this model the number of SM generations arises to be
  three naturally.\n\nThe MUSY generalization of the SUSY algebra is constr
 ucted and the MUSY invariant Lagrangian is also explicitly written. Simila
 r to other preonic and supersymmetric models\, a number of new particles a
 re predicted. These particles do not interact with any of the SM fermions 
 but only with the gauge bosons. These particles could be dark matter candi

 arak adlandırılmaktadır [1\,2]. Basamaklı Si(001)\, birbirini takip ed
 en iki tip terastan oluşmaktadır. Ardışık teraslardaki dimer doğrult
 uları birbirinden 90 derece farklıdır ve böylece yüzeyde iki farklı 
 adım görülür. Yüzeydeki girinti/çıkıntıların (kink) TTM analizin
 den görüldüğü üzere\, yüzey atomları 2-dimerlik birim hücreler ha
 linde yer değiştirmektedir [3]. Bu da yüzeye\, Burton-Cabrera-Frank’i
 n basit kübik kristal yüzey adımlarının serbest enerjisini hesaplamak
  için önerdiği modeli uygulanabilir kılmaktadır [4]. Konuşmamda\, Si
 (001) basamak serbest enerjilerinin titreşim etkilerini de dikkate alarak

DESCRIPTION:TAUWER experiment is a new concept of an EAS detector capable 
 for measurements of cosmic rays arriving with large zenith angles. This ki
 nd of detector will be part of a large area (several square kilometer) sur
 face array designed to measure Ultra High Energy (0.01-100 EeV) neutrinos 
 using the Earth-skimming technique. Because of the very good time resoluti
 on and adjustable orientation of the detector elements\, we can separate u
 pward-moving tracks from downward tracks at any orientation with high effi
 ciency. The detectors have been tested by measurements in coincidence with
  the KASCADE-Grande cosmic ray facility located at Forschungszentrum Karls

DESCRIPTION:The ATLAS Pixel Detector is the innermost element of the ATLAS
  experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN\, providing high-resoluti
 on measure- ments of charged particle tracks in the high radiation environ
 ment close to the collision region. This capability is vital for the ident
 ification and measurement of proper decay times of long-lived particles su
 ch as b-hadrons\, and thus vital for the ATLAS physics program. The detect
 or provides hermetic coverage with three cylindrical layers and three laye
 rs of forward and backward pixel detectors. It consists of approximately 8
 0 million pixels that are individually read out via chips bump-bonded to 1
 744 n+-in-n silicon substrates. In this talk\, results from the successful
  operation of the Pixel Detector at the LHC will be presented\, including 
 monitoring\, calibration procedures\, timing optimization and detector per
 formance. The detector performance is excellent: 96.2% of the pixels are o
 perational\, noise occupancy and hit efficiency exceed the design specific
 ation\, and a good alignment allows high quality track resolution.\n\nhttp

DESCRIPTION:İlk olarak 1996’da geliştirilen [1] MicroMegas dedektörle
 ri şu anda CAST ve COMPASS deneylerinde kullanılmakta ve ilgili ARGE faa
 liyetleri artarak devam etmektedir. Bu dedektörlerin duyarlılığı gaz 
 kazancıyla doğru orantılıdır. Gaz kazancını sınırlayan faktör is
 e\, yüksek kazançlarla birlikte artan kıvılcım (spark) oluşma olası
 lığıdır. Kıvılcım olayı\, dedektörün tekrar çalışma gerilimin
 e gelene kadar işlevsiz kalmasının (ölü zaman/dead-time) yanısıra\,
  dedektör malzemelerine ve dedektör okuma (read-out) elektroniğine de z
 arar verebilmektedir.\nKıvılcım etkilerinin kontrol altına alınabilme
 si için yüksek özdirençli katmanlar kullanılması ilk olarak Dirençl
 i Tabaka Odalarında (Resistive Plate Chamber\, RPC) görülmektedir [2]. 
 Yüksek özdirençli grafit katmanlar ATLAS Muon sisteminde bulunan Kısa 
 Aralıklı Odalarda (Thin Gap Chamber\, TGC) da kullanılmaktadır [3]. \n
 Büyük Hadron Çarpıştırıcısının önümüzdeki luminosite yükselt
 mesi sonrasında oluşacak olan yüksek parçacık akılarına duyarlı Mi
 croMegas dedektörleri geliştirmek üzere ARGE çalışmalarını sürdü
 ren MAMMA (Muon ATLAS MicroMegas Activity) grubu dirençli kaplama tekniğ
 ini kullanarak kıvılcımlara dayanıklı MicroMegas dedektörleri geliş
 tirmeyi başarmıştır [4]. RPC ve TGC’lerden farklı olarak\, bu dedek
 törlerde\, dirençli katmanlar tek bir katman halinde değil\; okuma katm
 anlarına benzer şekilde şeritler (strip) halinde yerleştirilmiştir.\n
 Dirençli yüzeylerdeki yükün yayılımı\, hangi okuma elektrodlarında
  işaret (signal) görüleceğini belirlerken\; yük boşalması için ger
 ekli zaman da dedektörün hangi parçacık sıklıklarında performansın
 ı koruyabileceğini belirlemektedir. Bu bağlamda\, yüklerin dirençli y
 üzeylerdeki hareketlerinin ve yük boşalma sürecinin anlaşılması bü
 yük önem arz etmektedir. Dirençli şeritlerdeki yük taşınımının e
 şdeğer elektrik devresinden yola çıkarak ele alındığı bir çalış
 ma mevcuttur [5] ancak bu model boyca özdirenç ve eşdeğer kapasitansı
  giriş parametreleri olarak almakta ve ikinci boyuttaki yük yayınımın
 a dair bir şey söylememektedir.\nSunumumda\, sonlu dirençli iki boyutlu
  yüzeylerdeki yüklerin zaman boyunca hareketini\, elektrik potansiyelin 
 momentler yöntemiyle [6] çözümüne dayalı olarak hesaplayan benzetiml
 erimi ve bu benzetimlerden elde ettiğim ilk sonuçları anlatacağım.\n\

 da ülkemizi teğet geçti. Hâlbuki atom çekirdeğinin bulunduğu bu den
 eyden elde ettiğimiz bilgiler son yüzyılın bilim ve teknolojisinin tem
 elini oluşturmuştur. \nRutherford Deneyinin sonuçlarının gerçek öne
 mini anlayan az sayıda mütefekkirin arasında İstiklal Marşımızın s
 özlerinin yazarı Mehmet Akif Ersoy yer almıştır (Safahat\, 6.bölüm)
 . Rutherford deneyinin sonuçlarının yayınlanmasından 10 yıl bile ge
 çmeden\, gelişmiş ülkelerdeki fizikçilerin bile çoğunluğunun tam o
 larak kavrayamadığı gerçeği Mehmet Akif nasıl anladı?  \nBugün “
 maddenin kudret-i zerriyesi” CERN'de araştırılıyor. Cumhurbaşkanım
 ız ve Başbakanımızın doğrudan desteği sayesinde ülkemiz 2010 yıl
 ında CERN üyeliği için başvurmuştur. Bizimle birlikte İsrail\, Gün
 ey Kıbrıs\, Sırbistan ve Slovenya başvurmuşlardı. Gerekli adımları
  atarak İsrail 2011 yılının Eylül ayında\, Sırbistan ise Aralık ay
 ında yapılan CERN Konseyi toplantılarının kararlarıyla üyelik süre
 çlerini başlatmaya nail oldular. Türkiye neyi bekliyor?\nSunumda ülkem
 izin CERN üyeliği serüveni anlatıldıktan sonra\, Türkiye'nin Dünyay
 a yön veren ülkeler arasında yer alması için azami AR-GE altyapısın
 ın kurulması ve bu kapsamda hızlandırıcı teknolojisinin rolü irdele

DESCRIPTION:A Large Ion Collider Experiment (ALICE) is designed to explore
  the physics of strongly interacting matter under the extreme conditions o
 f high energy density at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC)\, including 
 the creation and study of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) { a state of matter
  whose existence is predicted by Quantum Chromodynamics. After close to 20
  years of preparation\, ALICE has taken data from pp collisions at energie
 s of 0.7\, 2.76\, and 7 TeV since 2009. This talk will focus an overview o
 f recent results from ALICE\, using both pp and PbPb collisions\, will be 
 presented together with the detector's current status and performance.\n\n

DESCRIPTION:The Υ production cross sections are measured with the CMS det
 ector using \n36.7 ± 1.5 pb− 1 of proton-proton collisions at √s = 7 
 TeV. The observed \nyields of the Υ(1S )\, Υ(2S )\, and Υ(3S ) reconstr
 ucted in the di-muon decay \nchannel are: 73569 ± 465\, 23390 ± 364\, an
 d 13359 ± 130\, respectively. \nIntegrated over the rapidity range |y| 
 ≤ 2.4\, the product of the Υ(nS ) \nproduction cross section (unpolariz
 ed scenario) and the di-muon branching \nratio are measured to be \nσ(pp 
 → Υ(1S )X ) · B(Υ(1S ) → µ + µ−) = 8.347 ± 0.056 (stat.) +0.36
 5 −0.350 (syst.) ± 0.334 (lumi.) nb \, \nσ(pp → Υ(2S )X ) · B(Υ(2
 S ) → µ + µ−) = 2.274 ± 0.034 (stat.) +0.138 −0.130 (syst.) ± 0.
 086 (lumi.) nb \, \nσ(pp → Υ(3S )X ) · B(Υ(3S ) → µ + µ−) = 1.
 175 ± 0.021 (stat.) +0.101 −0.098 (syst.) ± 0.046 (lumi.) nb .  \nwher
 e the ﬁrst uncertainty is statistical\, the second is systematic\, and t
 he \nthird is associated with the estimation of the integrated luminosity 
 of the \ndata sample. The cross sections are obtained assuming unpolarized
 -Υ pro- \nduction. Assuming fully transverse or fully longitudinal polari
 zation leads to \nvariations in the cross sections by about 20%. The Υ(1S
  )\, Υ(2S )\, and Υ(3S ) \ndiﬀerential cross sections in transverse mo
 mentum and rapidity\, along with \nrespective cross section ratios\, are p
 resented. Comparison to theory predic- \ntions and previous experimental m
