DESCRIPTION:PURPOSE OF THE WORKSHOP\n\nThe possible upgrade of LHC or a fu
ture generation of colliders at the extreme limits of energy and luminosit
y will require detectors based on very advanced technological solutions to
fully exploit the physics opportunities offered. Major steps must be tak
en to design and realize devices not only able to handle very high rates b
ut also to cope with the very harsh radiation environment without sufferi
ng any performance degradation.\nThe aim of this Workshop on “Innovative
Detectors for Supercolliders” is to review the present status\, current l
imits and recent developments in detection techniques and related aspects
 (simulation\, signal acquisition\, tracking\, particle identification\,...
). Novel ideas in this domain will be discussed with emphasis on the direc
tions in which improvements in proven techniques are desired.\n\nhttp://in

DESCRIPTION:The workshop explores both the short- and long-term opportunit
ies for particle and nuclear physics offered by a multi-MW proton source s
uch as a proton linear accelerator or a rapid-cycling synchrotron. This so
urce would provide Muon and Electron Neutrino beams of unprecedented inten
sity\, superior slow Muon and possibly Kaon facilities\, as well as a worl
d-leading Radioactive Ion Beam facility for Nuclear\, Astro- and fundament
al physics. The oral contributions at the workshop are by invitation only
but there is a possibility to either display posters or have a written con
tribution linked to the web-site. The posters will be on display next to t
he main meeting room for the full length of the workshop with a dedicated
poster session on Thursday morning. We strongly encourage anyone who has i
nformation of importance not covered\, or only partly covered\, by the pro
gramme to submit an abstract for a poster or/and paper contribution. Any s
ubmitted and accepted contributions will serve as input for the summary pa
per that will be published after the workshop. This paper will be an impor
tant input for e.g. the Cogne (Villar) meeting and the CERN Scientific Pol

DESCRIPTION:INFN ELOISATRON PROJECT\n44TH Workshop\nProject Director: A. Z
ichichi\n\nQCD at Cosmic Energies: The Highest Energy Cosmic Rays and QCD\
n\nThe aim of the Workshop is to discuss issues of common interest for the
highest energy cosmic ray physics (in particular\, near the GZK cutoff) a
nd forward physics at LHC\, in particular those related with a new regime
of strong interactions expected to emerge at these energies.\n\nThe QCD un
derstanding of this new regime has implications for modeling cosmic shower
 s. Furthermore\, cosmic ray experiments may provide an important insight
into quark-gluon interactions at extreme gluon densities.\n\nThe Workshop
will bring together experts in high energy QCD and cosmic ray physics in v
iew of expanding the mutually beneficial interface between experiments pla
nning to explore forward physics at LHC and highest energy cosmic ray expe
 riments.\n\nhttp://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=a043879

DESCRIPTION:The enormous growth of the worldwide "Internet" during the las
t decade offers computer users new means to share and distribute informati
on and data. The High Energy Physics (HEP) community has even partially d
riven the success of the Internet.\n\nToday\, modern Information Technolog
ies (IT) are commonly used in accelerator and experiment control systems.
Accelerator and experiment control system are based more and more on commo
 n-of-the-shelf hardware/software (VME crates\, PLCs\, VxWorks\, LynxOS\, n
etwork switches\, networked controls hardware\, SCADA\, commercial middlew
are\, etc.) or Windows/Linux PCs. Even customized hardware often comes wit
h Ethernet adapters. This world-wide interconnectivity allows access to al
l this equipment remotely from the office\, from home or from remote univ
ersities and institutes.\n\nUnfortunately\, the adoption of modern IT stan
dards by control systems also exposes the inherent vulnerabilities of the
corresponding hardware and software to the world. This world is far more h
ostile than a local private controls network as the number and power of wo
rms and viruses increases and hackers start to become interested in contro
l systems. Furthermore\, control PCs can not be patched as fast as office
PCs. Even worse\, vulnerability scans at CERN have shown that common-off-t
he-shelf automation systems often lack even fundamental security protectio
 n measures.\n\nThe (CS)2/HEP workshop is intended to present\, share and d
iscuss counter-measures deployed in high energy physics laboratories in or
der to secure control systems. \n\nPotential Keywords and topics are:\n
 * Security\, vulnerabilities and protective measures of front end devices\
 n (e.g. VME crates\, LynxOS\, VxWorks\, PLCs\, power supplies\, netwo
rked controls hardware)\n * Control network security\, network architect
 ures\, network segregation\, firewalling and intrusion detection\n * SCA
DA security\, PC installation and management schemes\n * Secure ("Kiosk"
) operation in multi-user environements (e.g. at light-sources\, where use
rs change quite frequently)\n * Authentication & Authorization of contro
 l systems\n * Remote operations and expert interventions\n * Security
policies\, security procurement language\, official regulations and best p
 ractices\n * Security testing\, disclosure and follow up\n\nhttp://indic

DESCRIPTION:In the past few years\, a strong cooperation activity has grow
n up between Chinese and French scientists involved in high energy physics
. Moreover\, several topical workshops organized in France and in China ha
ve contributed to pave the road to the creation\, early 2007\, of the Fran
ce China Particle Physics Laboratory so-called FCPPL. The aim of this join
t laboratory is to reinforce and further structure cooperations between Fr
ance and China in particle physics. Therefore\, following its creation in
2007\, cooperation programs have been set up and funded through this labor
atory. \n\nThe main purpose of this first workshop is to present\, review
and discuss the various ongoing and future activities performed by Chinese
and French scientists within the FCPPL framework. These activities will b
e put into context by a few review talks at the beginning of each session.
Moreover\, throughout this workshop\, discussions between scientists from
both countries will foster and reinforce these cooperations as well as de
velop new ones. Finally\, the opportunity of having all those scientists\,
as well as some of the main actors of the research in Particle Physics fr
om France and China\, lead to organize\, during this workshop\, a dedicate
d session on "The future of Particle Physics in Asia and Europe". \n\nWe a
re pleased to invite you to this first workshop. It will be held at the CP
PM\, the Marseilles Particle Physics Centre\, from the 14th of January 200
 8 to the 17th of January 2008. Then\, on the 18th of January 2008\, a clos
e session of the FCPPL steering committee will be held which will review t

DESCRIPTION:The understanding of QCD production of bosons plus jets is piv
otal for measurements of top production and for many searches for new phys
ics at both the Tevatron and the LHC\, e.g. searches for Supersymmetry or
Higgs boson(s). A large number of theoretical calculations and tools have
become available over the last few years and have been compared recently b
y many of the authors of the different programs. The goal of this workshop
is to review the comparison of these predictions to data\, with particula
r focus on heavy flavor jets which have not yet been studied so extensivel
 y. We would thus like to review the theoretical basis\, the performance an
d compare them to the available data from the Tevatron and their predictio
ns for the LHC both for light and heavy flavor jets. In particular we will
also review which further measurements could be useful to advance our und

DESCRIPTION:This Workshop is the sixth in a series whose aim is to bring t
ogether theorists and experimentalists working on the phenomenology of the
upcoming TeV colliders. The emphasis will be on physics at the LHC with a
particular attention on the one hand on the progress in new techniques fo
r the simulation of Standard Model processes and on the other on the lates
t developments concerning new mechanisms of symmetry breaking and the New
Physics. These activities will be conducted in close connection with the
development and improvements of tools in particular of Monte-Carlo event g
enerators.\n\nThemes to be covered in the Workshop range from Quantum Chro
moDynamics to the mechanism of Electroweak Symmetry Breaking and Higgs ph
ysics\, models of New Physics and their phenomenology. The interdependen
ce between the signals from the New Physics and their respective backgroun
ds will be stressed. Three Working Groups have been set up covering these
different aspects of the Physics at the LHC.\n\n1/ SM and NLO Multi-leg wi
ll address the issue of the theoretical predictions for multileg processes
\, in particular beyond leading order\, and the possibility of implementin
g these calculations in Monte Carlos. This working group aims at a cross b
reeding between novel approaches (twistors\, unitarity cuts\,...) and impr
ovements in standard techniques. The precision NLO and in some instances N
NLO predictions extend also to Higgs observables. \n\n2/ New Physics is a
beyond SM group. The emphasis this year will be on alternatives to SUSY t
hat address the problem of symmetry breaking\, although some aspects of SU
SY phenomenology will be addressed. It will also address the issues of mod
el reconstruction and model independent searches based on topologies.\n\n3
/ Tools and Monte Carlos. This working group will liaise with the SM and
New Physics WGs with the task of incorporating some of the issues and new
techniques developed in these groups in view of improving Monte Carlos and
setting standards and accords among the simulation codes to better meet t
he experimental needs. Issues concerning pdf and jets will also be cover
ed within this WG. In session I the emphasis will be on standard model iss
ues in close connection with the SM/NLO Working Group while in sessions II
the emphasis will be on the implementation of new models.\n \nAs usual
within the Les Houches PhysTeV series\, we expect a strong interplay and
collaboration between these different groups and their subgroups. The proj
ects are to start in January 2009 and should be completed by the end of th
e year 2009.\n\nThe meeting at les Houches\, between June 8th and June 26t
h 2009\, will be the central point of the Workshop where\, in addition to
the Working Group activities\, a few lectures and review talks are planned
. Participation to the Workshop is open to all. However\, due to space lim
itation in Les Houches\, attendance to the meeting is limited to 70 partic
ipants at any given point. Due to the overwhelming response of the past fi
ve sessions\, this session is over a period of almost 3 weeks. Though we e
xpect some participants to attend the full duration of the meeting\, plans
will be made so that a certain number of participants cover either the fi
rst or second half of the meeting\, allowing us to accommodate about 110-1
20 participants in total this time.\n\nhttp://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDis

DESCRIPTION:In 2009/2010 we expect to see the first LHC collision data and
this workshop is held to maximize the physics potential of this first LHC
run. Current estimates for the 2009/2010 run are that the center-of-mass
energy will be 10 TeV and that the integrated luminosity will be about 200
pb-1. This has been announced recently by CERN following the meeting held
in Chamonix early February.\n\nWhile exhaustive and detailed studies of t
he LHC physics potential exist with high luminosity (>10 fb-1) at 14 TeV\,
there are relatively few studies at lower energy with low luminosity. Eve
n though the energy is slightly lower than the design it may be very inter
esting to make measurements at this lower energy which is still a factor o
f 5 larger than ever observed in a controlled environment! In fact it may
be particularly interesting to measure something at 10 TeV as this may nev
er be done again when the LHC runs at full steam. This workshop therefore
aims at exploring the physics that might be possible with such a data samp
le and particularly is aimed at PhD students who wish to graduate on the 2
009/2010 data. Since the integrated luminosity is still rather uncertain (
both in terms of how much will be delivered by LHC and also how much good
data will be acquired for physics analysis by the experiments) we will sur
vey opportunities for any luminosities between 1 pb-1 and 200 pb-1 For the
orists this presents the great opportunity to inspire those students to me
asure some peoperty that may otherwise not get measured.\n\nThe topics cov
ered by this workshop are\n\n * soft QCD: total cross-section\, underly
ing event\, diffraction\,...\n * hard QCD: jet production\, jet propert
 ies\, photon cross section(s)\, ...\n * Heavy-Flavor production: J/Psi
 and Upsilon\, open charm and bottom\, ...\n * Elecroweak Physics: W/Z p
roduction\n * New Physics: large new physics cross section with spectac
 ular (detectable) signatures\n\nhttp://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py

DESCRIPTION:Since the last ICALEPCS conference in 2007\, Control System Cy

hich leads to heterogeneous systems and often necessitates remote access.\
n\nHowever\, with this adoption of modern IT standards\, control systems a
re also exposed to the inherent vulnerabilities of the corresponding hardw
are and software. The consequences of a security breach in an accelerator
or detector control system might be severe\, and attackers won't ignore HE
P systems just because it's HEP.\n\nFirst overviews by several HEP institu
tes worldwide on the application of Cyber-Security in Control Systems were
given at the last ICALEPCS conference. This time\, the (CS)2/HEP 2009 wor
kshop is intended to review the progress since the last conference\, to sh
are and discuss further counter-measures\, and to review configuration and
development procedures for secure control systems. \n\nPotential Keywords
and topics are:\n * Security\, vulnerabilities and protective measures
 of front end devices\n (e.g. VME crates\, LynxOS\, VxWorks\, PLCs\, p
ower supplies\, networked controls hardware)\n * Control network securit
y\, network architectures\, network segregation\, firewalling and intrusio
 n detection\n * SCADA security\, PC installation and management schemes\
n * Secure ("Kiosk") operation in multi-user environments (e.g. at light
-sources\, where users change quite frequently)\n * Authentication & Aut
horization on control systems\n * Remote operations and expert intervent
ions\n * Software development cycle and system configuration management\
 n * Security policies & best practices\n\nhttp://indico.cern.ch/conferen

DESCRIPTION:The workshop is a part of the series organized by the "LHC and
Beyond" NordForsk Network aiming to integrate the Nordic participation in
the Large Hadron Collider at CERN and facilitate the Nordic R&D plans for
the next generation of experiments beyond the LHC. The focus of this 4-da
ys Workshop is obviously the first physics in proton-proton collisions at
the LHC successfully started in 2009. It is also important that the major
LHC spin-offs including medical applications (Hadron Therapy)\, novel comp
uting technologies (GRID) and detector developments are proposed to be inc
luded in the programme of the 4th day of the Workshop.\n\nThis workshop is
a continuation of meetings started several years ago by a group of Nordic
countries with the goal to provide a platform for the joint use of the LH
C infrastructure and\, even more\, - to look for the possible applications
and future perspectives with the intention to involve young researchers o
n a broader scale. In particular\, the talks will represent the perspectiv
es and activities of the Nordic groups involved in both theory and experim
ent. In addition to that there will be talks by a few invited speakers. As
for all workshops in this series we particularly encourage younger member
s of our community to present recent work in the field. The poster session

DESCRIPTION:A joint Berkeley-MIT Workshop\n\nIn 2010 we expect to see the
first significant LHC collision data\, and this workshop is held to get th
eorists and experimentalists together with the goal of helping maximize th
e physics potential of this first LHC run.\n\nThe LHC experiments have alr
eady analyzed data at a center-of-mass energy of 0.9 TeV which were collec
ted end of 2009 and reveal new information on the understanding of soft ph
ysics. Many new measurements are expected to be available by the summer. C
urrent estimates are that the LHC will run in 2010 and 2011 at a center-of
-mass energy of 7 TeV with the goal of collecting a total of 1 fb-1. This
will provide a dataset that is very competitive with the Tevatron dataset
available today and surpasses the Tevatron on most aspects of high pT phys
ics. First results at √ s = 7 TeV are expected for this summer from thi
s run.\n\nThis workshop aims at exploring the physics that might be possib
le with such a data sample and particularly is aimed at PhD students who w
ish to graduate on the 2010 data. For theorists this presents the great op
portunity to inspire those students to measure some property that may othe
rwise not get measured. The opportunities for both a luminosity of 200 pb-
 1 (2010 data) and 1 fb-1 (2010+2011) data will be explored.\n\nhttp://indi

DESCRIPTION:The LHC physics programme has successfully started. It is expe
cted to give answers to fundamental questions in high-energy physics\, suc
h as those on the origin of Electro Weak (EW) symmetry breaking\, the exis
tence of supersymmetry\, and the nature of dark matter.Since the LHC is a
hadron collider\, all the interesting high-pT new reactions are driven by
QCD hard scattering. To claim for new-physics signals\, a good control ove
r known Standard Model (SM) processes is thus necessary. The series of Wor
kshops "High Precision for Hard Processes" (HP2) was started to discuss ad
vances in the field of QCD and EW radiative corrections to both SM and BSM
processes at hadron colliders. The first workshop of the series was held
in Zürich in 2006\, and it was followed by a second workshop in Buenos Ai
res in 2008. The third workshop\, HP2.3rd\, takes place in Florence from 1
4 to 17 september 2010.We plan to discuss:Phenomenological results on hard
-scattering cross sections at high perturbative ordersMethods to compute m
ulti-leg loop amplitudes at tree and loop levelsMonte Carlo event generato

DESCRIPTION:Historical of LISHEP\nLISHEP has 4 Sessions performed in diffe
rent dates.\nSession A - Dedicated to Professors of Secondary School- It w
ill be not performed this time. Seesion B - Is a traditional School on Hig
h Energy Physics - It will not be performed this time. Session C - Is a Wo
rkshop on High Energy Physics with specific topics -This Session will be p
 erformed between 05 - 10 of July 2011\nSession D - Is a Workshop on Associ
ated Technologies on HEP. -It will not be performed this time.\nThis year
we will have on the Session C two topics of Common interest of Brazilian C
ommunity of HEP and Experiments at LHC.\nDirector of LISHEP: Alberto Santo
 ro \n	Poster of LISHEP2011\n\n	 \nSHORT HISTORY\nLishep was created in 1
993 to cover a missing meeting in Brazil\, mainly in Rio de Janeiro\, wher
e the majority of the HEP Brazilian groups are residents. Initially its na
me was related to a new CBPF Department\, named LAFEX- Cosmology and High
Energy Physics Laboratory. Later the Cosmology Group went to ICRA\, and La
fex by imposition of the administration of CBPF become CLAFEX. To be indep
endent of these changes we decided to adopt for the School just “Interna
tional School on High Energy Physics”\, although maintaining the same ac
ronym. LISHEP is promoted by AIAFEX – The Association of the Friends of
High Energy Physics. This organization does not have any profit purpose an
d serve as a bridge between the Public and Private organizations as well a
s for the School Organization. The LISHEP was formerly divided in 3 Sessio
ns\, and a fourth was added in 2002. All Sessions have an experimental and
phenomenological approach.\nSESSION A – Science on Secondary School Thi
s Session is devoted to a special public: Secondary and Primary School Tea
chers\, Science Journalists\, and any other professional interested in a d
irect contact with Researchers. It is the main purpose to approximate Teac
hers and Researchers in a direct contact. Beyond this\, we intend to promo
te a high quality scientific popularization. The School does not intend to
promote Physics courses\, stricto sensu. A typical year of this session w
as promoted in 2004: “One hundred years of Particle Physics”.\nSESSION
B – Advanced School in HEP The Session B is dedicated to graduate stude
nts and young researchers in High Energy Physics. One topic each two years
is chosen to be developed by invited lecturers. The Lecturers are always
specialists on the subject and known researchers. We intend to stimulate t
he student to experimental researches.\nSESSION C – Workshop in HEP This
session is designed to complement session B\, and planed for researchers
in HEP to communicate their results to their community. Here again\, each
year a subject to be developed during the workshop is chosen contemplating
contemporary subjects. For example we had a year dedicated to Heavy Flavo
r Physics\, and one week after for the first time outside of United States
the Top Discovery was announced.\nSESSION D – HEP Associated Technologi
es This was the last session created by the team of LISHEP\, dedicated to
complement the other sessions on Detectors\, Accelerators\, Computing and
all technologies associated to the HEP experiments. We already did twice t
he Digital Divide and HEPGRID Workshop. We are convinced that all these se
ssions are necessary and fruitful to contribute for the development of HEP
community in Brazil and Latin America. LISHEP has received financial supp
ort from several Brazilian institutions and from Laboratories of High Ener
gy Physics sending specialists to participate in all Sessions. LISHEP team
claims that the participation of the American and European students is fu
ndamental to stimulate future collaborators and to stress\, once more\, th
e international nature of HEP collaborations.\n\nhttp://indico.cern.ch/con

D and beyond the collinear approximation. \n\nThe main aim of the workshop

DESCRIPTION:2010 has been the tipping point for Control System Cyber-Sec
urity (CS2). For the first time\, a targeted attack --- dubbed "Stuxnet"
--- was conducted against an industrial control system. While this one was
aimed at a particular control system\, the attack itself confirms that
the threat is real and similar attacks\, most probably less sophisticated
\, will be seen throughout 2011...\nToday's accelerator and detector contr
ol systems do not differ significantly from the control systems used in in
dustry. Modern Information Technologies (IT) are commonly used\, control s
ystems are based more and more on common-of-the-shelf hardware/software (V
 ME crates\, PLCs\, VxWorks\, LynxOS\, network switches\, networked control
 s hardware\, SCADA\, commercial middleware\, etc.) or Windows/Linux PCs. F
urthermore\, due to the academic freedom in the High Energy Physics commun
 ity\, control systems are produced in a wide\, decentralized community\, w
hich leads to heterogeneous systems and often necessitates remote access.
However\, with this adoption of modern IT standards\, control systems are
also exposed to the inherent vulnerabilities of the corresponding hardware
and software. The consequences of a security breach in an accelerator or
detector control system might be severe\, and attackers won't ignore HEP s
ystems just because it's HEP. Overviews by several HEP institutes worldwi
de on the application of Cyber-Security in Control Systems were given at t
 he 2nd ICALEPCS conference.\nIn the era of "Stuxnet"\, the (CS)2/HEP 2011
workshop is intended to share and discuss counter-measures\, to review co
nfiguration and development procedures for secure control systems\, and to
review the progress since the last (CS)2/HEP workshop.\nPotential Keyword
s and topics are:\nSecurity\, vulnerabilities and protective measures of f
 ront end devices (e.g. VME crates\, LynxOS\, VxWorks\, PLCs\, power suppli
es\, networked controls hardware)\;Control network security\, network arch
 itectures\, network segregation\, firewalling and intrusion detection\;SCA
DA security\, PC installation and management schemes\;Secure ("Kiosk") ope
ration in multi-user environments (e.g. at light-sources\, where users cha
 nge quite frequently)\;Authentication & Authorization on control systems\;
Remote operations and expert interventions\;Software development cycle and
  system onfiguration management\;Security policies\, best practices\, sec
 urity events and lessons learned.\n\nhttp://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDispl

DESCRIPTION:Already based on only 40 pb-1 of 2010 data the LHC experiments
have searched for supersymmetry in a variety of signatures and extended t
he direct constraints previously set by the Tevatron and LEP experiments.
With the 2011 dataset which is expected to correspond to a luminosity of a
few fb-1\, the reach will be extended significantly and offers the best c
hance of actually observing supersymmetric particles since the theory firs
t was invented by Julius Wess and Bruno Zumino in 1974. \n\nWe thus host t
his workshop to review the experimental results\, and to evaluate to which
extent all theoretical possibilities are well covered in the ongoing expe
rimental searches. The workshop is primarily targeted at students and youn
 g postdocs.\n\nhttp://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=149404

DESCRIPTION:The practical introduction into CalcHEP package and High Energ
y Physics Model database will be given together with the follow-up tutoria
l.\n\nCalcHEP is a powerful tool for theoretical\, phenomenological and ex
perimental studies in High Energy Physics (HEP). CalcHEP allows users to
automate the calculations and studies starting from the introduction of
any user-defined model and ending by the realistic event simulation\, ki
nematical distributions and analysis. In its present status CalcHEP can be
considered is a ready setup for study of LHC physics within Standard Mode
l and Beyond.\nOn the other hand HEPMDB is a convenient centralized stora
ge environment for HEP models\, and can accommodate\, via web interface to
the HPC cluster\, the validation of models\, evaluation of LHC prediction
s and event generation-simulation chain. The ultimate goal of HEPMDB is pe

DESCRIPTION:\n	The preservation of unique data sets produced by large expe
rimental installations is of permanent concern and has been addressed in v
arious disciplines at different levels. The activity in high energy physic
s is relatively recent and has been steered by the ICFA panel "Data Preser
vation in High Energy Physics" (DPHEP). The series of workshops organised
by DPHEP has always been open to exchanges with other disciplines. Taking
the opportunity of the 6th DPHEP international meeting organised in the op
ening\, the workshop will be devoted to the enhancement of the common refl
ection on the scientific grounds for data preservation and to exchanges on
the associated methods and techniques\, with the goal to initiate new pro
jects and collaborations. The last day of the meeting is devoted to a disc

DESCRIPTION:Nearly a decade ago\, a clear path forward was developed by th
e neutrino physics community. Exciting new results have recently come out
as early steps along that path. The time is now ripe to look at new expe
rimental ideas that have arisen and the performance of current experiments
. This conference will take the current status of experiment as its launc
hing point. We will examine new accelerator and reactor oscillation resul
ts\, prospects for learning about mass hierarchy and leptonic CP violation
\, and potential for new physics in oscillation experiments. We will also
cover the latest developments in neutrino physics\, astrophysics and cosm
ology more broadly\, including neutrinoless double beta decay\, neutrino i
nteractions\, and supernovae. The emphasis of the conference will be on h
ow new experimental techniques and theoretical ideas will impact the futur

DESCRIPTION:This meeting aims at bringing together experts from three diff
erent areas of Particle Physics with a common interest in strongly interac
ting dynamics beyond the standard model as a mechanism of electroweak symm
etry breaking. Traditionally\, there is little cross-talk among those sect
 ors: phenomenologists focus on experimental data and their implications\;
model builders start from a theoretical framework and using analytical tec
hniques (derived either from field theory or string theory arguments) work
out predictions that can be tested at experiments\; finally\, lattice gau
ge theorists use numerical techniques to determine quantitative answers fo
r problems for which conventional analytical methods fail. \n\nThe main ob
jective of this workshop is to promote a significant advance in the field
of BSM strong dynamics by facilitating the synergy among those apparently
different but strictly interconnected sub-fields. \n\nThis workshop is sup
ported by the Higgs Centre\, the ESF network Holograv\, Swansea University

DESCRIPTION:\n	Institute for High Energy Physics  (in the framework of th
e National Research Centre "Kurchatov Institute") is organizing the XXIX-t
h International Workshop on High Energy Physics “NEW RESULTS and ACTUAL
PROBLEMS in PARTICLE & ASTROPARTICLE PHYSICS and COSMOLOGY”\, June 26-28
 \, 2013\, in Protvino\, Moscow region\, Russia.\n\n	 The purpose of this
Workshop is to exhibit a more complete and coherent picture of our underst
anding of the structure and dynamics of the microcosm\, the megacosm and i
ts evolution and the relationship between these two extremes of modern phy
sics.\n\n	 The Workshop covers both theory and experiment/observations in
most actual and critical points.\n\n	 We would like to promote\, at the
meeting\, much more critical discussions than is usually the case. An exam
ple is the series of historic debates at famous Solvay Congresses.\n\n	 T
o this end the meeting will be organized so that reports will be accompani
ed by discussion panels and talks. In addition\, the poster event for brie
f actual notes will be organized.\n\n	 Topics to discuss contain presumab
ly Higgs boson observed at LHC and Tevatron (including alternative interpr
etations)\, exploratory searches for dark matter and dark energy\, neutrin
o oscillations and the problem of neutrino mass\, progress in the study of
confinement in YM theory and beyond\, quark-gluon plasma and other exotic
states of matter\, problems in QCD as the strong interaction theory\, bla
ck holes (pro et contra)\, progress in Grand Unification theories\, early
Universe\, cosmic microwave background radiation\, progress in experimenta
l and accelerator techniques.\n\n	 We believe that such a relatively wide
scope of subjects for presentation and discussion will be also a good opp
ortunity for participants to learn first hands about the state of art in t
he fields of common interest where they are not experts.CONFERENCE FEE- 50

DESCRIPTION:\nWelcome to the 19th International Summer Institute on Phenom
enology of Elementary Particles and Cosmology (SI2013). The Summer Institu
tes have been held every summer since 1995. It aims at an Aspen-type Insti
tute in Asia. The purpose of the Summer Institute is to promote communicat
ions and discussions on research among participants\, rather than to give
pedagogical lectures for students. Therefore the scientific program is rel
axed to keep enough time for discussions. We hope that the new ideas and r
esearch activities will be initiated from this institute.\n\nhttp://indico

DESCRIPTION:\n	The 9th Relativistic Aspects of Nuclear Physics workshop (R
ANP2013) will be held from September 23 to 27\, 2013 in Rio de Janeiro\, B
razil. The conference venue will be the Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Fí
sicas. The series of workshops started in 1989\, aiming to bring together
people working in hadron physics\, with special emphasis on high-energy he
avy ion collisions and the phases of strong interactions. The idea of this
series of meetings is also to give a general view on the frontier of pres
ent research activities in the field and indicate directions for future de
velopments\, e.g. in QCD dynamics and the QGP\, relativistic heavy ion phy
sics and high energy astrophysics and cosmology.\n \n  This will be a ve
ry special edition\, since it celebrates the 70th birthday of Prof. Takesh
i Kodama\, who has given so many contributions to the field and also to al
l of the the Brazilian physics community. A special event will take place
at the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC) during the Workshop. So\, it w
ill be a time for very interesting and informal scientific discussions\, a
s is usually the case in RANP\, but also to meet your friend Kodama and ce
 lebrate with many others.\n\nhttp://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?co

DESCRIPTION:The scientific program will be focussed on the theory of low-e
nergy precision physics relevant to the MESA and TRIGA initiatives. Topics
include searches for TeV-scale physics beyond the Standard Model via ultr
a-precise measurements of parity-violating electron scattering asymmetries
\, determinations of neutron decay parameters via precision measurements o
f its lifetime and decay asymmetries\, and searches for EDMs of nucleons\,
nuclei and atoms. The necessary high-precision theoretical tools to analy
se these experiments\, which include advanced calculations of radiative co
rrections\, will be explored and developed. \n\nLocal organizers: Harvey M

DESCRIPTION:Since Stuxnet in 2010\, attacks against industrial control sys
tems are regularly reported in the media\; new vulnerabilities are regular
ly published and exploited\; and politicians become more and more concerne
d about the resilience of the control systems controlling a nations critic
al infrastructure...\nModern accelerator and detector control systems do n
ot differ significantly from the control systems used in industry. Modern
Information Technologies (IT) are commonly used\, control systems are base
 d more and more on common-of-the-shelf hardware/software (VME\, PLCs\, VxW
 orks\, LynxOS\, network switches\, networked controls hardware\, SCADA\, c
ommercial middleware\, etc.) or Windows/Linux PCs. Furthermore\, due to th
e academic freedom in the High Energy Physics community\, control systems
are produced in a wide\, decentralized community\, which leads to heteroge
neous systems and often necessitates remote access. However\, with this ad
option of modern IT standards\, control systems are also exposed to the in
herent vulnerabilities of the corresponding hardware and software. The con
sequences of a security breach in an accelerator or detector control syste
m might be severe\, and attackers won't ignore HEP systems just because it
's HEP.\nPresentations by several HEP institutes worldwide on the applicat
ion of Cyber-Security in Control Systems were given at the 3rd ICALEPCS co
nference. This new (CS)2/HEP workshop is intended to continue sharing and
discussing counter-measures\, to review configuration and development pro
cedures for secure control systems\, and to review the progress since the
last (CS)2/HEP workshop.\nPotential Keywords and topics are:\n\n Security
\, vulnerabilities and protective measures of front end devices (e.g. VME\
 , LynxOS\, VxWorks\, PLCs\, power supplies\, networked controls hardware)\
 ;\n	\n Control network security\, network architectures\, network segrega
tion\, firewalling and intrusion detection\;\n	\n SCADA security\, PC ins
tallation and management schemes\;\n	\n Secure ("Kiosk") operation in mul
ti-user environments (e.g. at light-sources\, where users change quite fre
 quently)\;\n	\n Authentication & Authorization on control systems\;\n	\n
