DESCRIPTION:CANGAROO (the Collaboration of Australia and Nippon (Japan) \n
for a GAmma Ray Observatory in the Outback) project has been \nexploring t
he southern sky in the sub-TeV to multi-TeV energy range \nusing the groun
d-based Cherenkov telescopes located in South Australia.\nSupernova remnan
 ts of non-thermal X-ray detection\, rotation-powered pulsars\nof large dE/
dt over d2 value\, and other galactic unique objects \nincluding our Galac
tic Center have been selected as observation targets\,\ntogether with some
nearby X-ray selected BL Lacs and (starburst) galaxies.\nIntroduction of
the project and some recent results will be presented.\n\nhttp://indico.ce

SUMMARY:Spectro-temporal Studies of Microquasars in X-rays

DESCRIPTION:Microquasars are binary systems in our Galaxy composed of a no
rmal star\nand a stellar mass black hole (or a neutron star). Their name c
omes from\nthe fact that the compact object ejects matter in powerful jets
similar\nto those observed in distant quasars. This talk will be dedicate
 d to the\nstudy of three microquasars\, hosting a black hole\, mainly thro
ugh the\nspectral and temporal properties of their soft (1-10 keV) and har
d\n(10-100 keV) X-ray emissions.\n\nI will first briefly define and presen
t the useful terms and the basic \nphysics underlying the phenomena occurr
ing in the close vicinity of\nthese objects from both the spectral and tem
poral point of view.\nI will then turn to the study of two microquasars\,
GRO J1655-40 and GRS\n1915+105 and present the link between quasi-periodic
oscillations \n(QPO) and spectral parameters. I show how the spectro-temp
oral behavior\nof both sources\, although different\, are in good agreemen
t with the\ntheoretical predictions of the Accretion-Ejection Instability
(AEI).\n\nA third object\, XTE J1550-564\, will be then studied over a per
iod of\noutbursts. I will point out the presence of two different X-ray e
mitting\nmedia\, which relative geometry may be changing through the outbu
rst.\nI will also present the evolution of low frequency QPOs and compare
it\nto the theoretical predictions of some models of these features.\n\nAs
a conclusion\, I will discuss all these results in the framework of\ntheo
retical models compatible with the observations presented along this talk.
