DESCRIPTION:After the CNGS operation stop due to radiation induced equipme
nt failure\, a review for LHC electronics installed in underground areas w
as started in the context of a dedicated study group. In this context the
need of an updated course on radiation effects on electronics was identifi
ed\, with the emphasis on Single Event Effects. At CERN respective experti
se exists within the Physics Experiment community as well as in certain ma
chine groups. It was thus suggested to organise an inter-departmental scho
ol with the focus on both\, general lectures\, as well as acquired experti
se for various solutions. \n\nThe derrived course objectives are three-fol
d: to provide the necessary knowledge and scientific basis\, to present pa
st experiences and encountered problems\, as well as to exchange existing
expertise and enable future effective CERN internal collaborations (experi
ments\, machine\, various departments and groups). With experiments and ma
chine facing similar problems in terms of electronics reliability and func
tionality\, but on partly different levels of radiation\, the suggested tr
aining course is supposed to:\n\n · combine lectures based on general ra
diation effects and their consequences\, radiation to electronics and rela
ted experience\, as well as constraints in terms of system development and
the solutions of problems\n\n · bring together from the experiments and
machine experts in electronics design in radiation fields\, as well as le
ss or not experienced electronic developers\, equipment designers and owne
rs\, thus creating an effective and efficient link and knowledge between c
oncerned people\n\n · be in its first venue focused on one central subje
ct: Single Event Effects on electronics in typical radiation fields with h
igh-energy hadron fluences in the range of 1E7-1E10 cm-2year-1\n\nhttp://i

DESCRIPTION:This review evaluates the current status of the LHC Power Conv
erters for the different equipments installed in LHC areas where radiation
levels are potentially a concern for radiation induced failures. All equi
pments are described in detail\, and their radiation susceptibility is giv
en when known (test results from different test campaigns). Equipments not
fully characterized under radiations will be analysed in detail\, stating
possible scenarios to better handle their criticality with regards to LHC
operation.\nFinally\, possible mitigation will be presented: redesign\, s
 hielding\, re-location and related cost / mapower / time are addressed.\n\

DESCRIPTION: This three-day workshop aims to review identified mitigation
options for electronics being installed in LHC critical areas. All releva
nt constraints and details for planning\, costs and work requirements are
to be identified and collected. The workshop will allow all concerned depa
rtments\, groups and equipment owners to express possible constraints as w
ell as actively participate to the respective planning. This shall allow u
s converging towards a common and optimized solution\, to be summarized in
a final workshop report. It is the chance and duty of all people concerne
d to provide relevant information\, actively contribute to the solution fi
nding and share the responsibility for the future steps ahead of us.  Cha

DESCRIPTION:The development of the new version of the RadMon detector is m
aking rapid progress and the RadMon team is soon in the position to launch
the first series production. The new version will have substantial upgrad
es in terms of sensitivity range\, sensor calibration\, soft and hardware
design and possible future ‘extensions’. \n \nA few decisions/directio
ns have soon to be taken\, thus this reveiw aims to discuss various design
questions. A brief list of aspects to be looked at include:\n- Short-comi
