DESCRIPTION:The application of heavy particle effective field theory to th
e computation of dark matter-nucleus scattering is discussed. A simple cl
ass of composite models with universal features is presented. Relativist
ic invariance is implemented in such effective theories via infinite dimen
sional representations of the Lorentz group. General formalism and const
raints on the construction of effective theory operators is presented.\n\n
