DESCRIPTION:Among the physical observables in the CKM mechanism of weak qu
 ark couplings\, the phase gamma is one of the most poorly constrained. Its
  importance is derived from the fact that it can be measured using only tr
 ee diagrams\, thus making it an excellent standard candle to which loop pr
 ocesses can be compared. In this seminar I will describe the progress and 
 prospects of LHCb in the measurement of gamma. This will focus on the rece
 ntly-achieved milestone in this work\, observation of direct CP violation
