DESCRIPTION:Particle physics at the energy frontier drives the development
of innovative calorimeter techniques. While LHC detector upgrades are mai
nly driven by needs for radiation hardness and rate capability\, precision
physics at a future electron positron collider calls for ultimate perform
ance. Novel sensor techniques\, micro-pattern structures and new materials
make it possible to conceive detectors which deliver an unprecedented deg
ree of detailed information through extremely fine granularity\, or throug
h simultaneous measurement of different types of energy deposition. These
in turn imply new challenges for integration engineering and reconstructio
n algorithms. The talk will refer to experience at the LHC detectors\, but
focus on R&D for future colliders. I will present new calorimeter concept
 s and experimental test results.\n\nhttp://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDispla
