DESCRIPTION:In the first week the TH Institute will focus on theoretical a
 spects of SM physics at the LHC. Attendance to this part of the programme 
 is limited and by invitation only.\nThe second week is open\, and will fea
 ture plenary meetings of the LHC working groups related to SM physics (EW 
 WG and Top WG) and of PDF4LHC. The Institute participants are invited to a
 ttend this event as well.\nDuring the first week\, we plan to have just a 
 few short talks during a one-hour session each day\, to stimulate discussi
 ons on the following topics:\n\n		NLO Automated calculations\, in the cont
 ext of fully automated MC generators.\n		\n				existing tools\n			\n				re
 view of suitability of LH interfaces\n			\n				needs and required further 
 progress/developments\n			\n				BSM NLO corrections: benefits vs costs\n		
 \n	\n		NNLO\n		\n				cancellation of singularities: analytical\, semi-anal
 ytical\, local\, and implications on numerical stability\;\n			\n				exten
 t to which current approaches are parton-level generators (ie\, capable of
  predicting simultaneously observables with arbitrary cuts)\;\n			\n				wi
 ll the results be suitable for PDF fits? If not\, what does it take to get
  there?\n		\n	\n		EW corrections\n		\n				assessment of existing results\n
 			\n				EW showers in the MCs\n			\n				finite-width effects and treatmen
 t of unstable particles\n			\n				interplay with degree of inclusiveness o
 f observables.\n		\n	\n		MCs and resummation\n		\n				matching at NLO\n			
 \n				merging multiplicities with NLO+PS\n			\n				theory systematics: ME 
 and shower hard and soft scale dependencies\, matching-method uncertaintie
 s\n			\n				beyond LL showers\n		\n\nThe agenda of the second week will ap
