Simultaneously\, effort has been taken\nto learn how to efficiently execute HEP applications in a virtual environment. The result is a privat e cloud testbed\, called\nSCLab\, build with the help of the OpenNebula to olkit. The concept Infrastructure as Code (IaC)\, based on the Chef\nconfi guration management system\, has been adopted for the deployment and opera tion of HEP applications in clouds.\nTools have been developed to start vi rtual clusters in any IaaS cloud on demand. The system automatic ally boots instances of the requested machine type on one of the available clouds and contextualizes them to connect to the batch system. The system is being used on a continual basis for astronomy and HEP jobs.
