 astructure is currently supporting two eScience\ncommunities\, Environment
 al Monitoring and Fisheries and Aquaculture\nResources Management\, by pro
 viding them with Virtual Research Environments\n(VREs). VREs provide scien
 tists with a dynamically aggregated environment\nconsisting of data\, serv
 ices and computing and storage capabilities.\nD4Science builds upon the EG
 EE infrastructure and gLite technology to\npromote data generation\, integ
 ration\, enrichment\, and curation. \nThe objective of this talk is threef
 old: to emphasize the characteristics of\nthese large communities and thei
 r needs\; to present the role of the\nD4Science infrastructure that acts a
 s mediator and facilitator for these\ncommunities \; to speculate on possi
