DESCRIPTION:Minutes\nParticipants\nMischa Salle (NIKHEF)\nOscar Koeroo (NI
 KHEF)\nBjörn Hagemeier (JUELICH)\nJedrzej Rybicki(JUELICH)\nShahbaz Memon
  (JUELICH)\nLaurence Field (CERN)\nZsombor Nagy (NIIF)\nNotes\n- main focu
s of this meeting was to narrow down this group's focus to\navoid catering
broader usecases\nwhich are unrealizable within EMI lifetime\, and not to
have double\neffort with other projects\n- What kind of use cases we shou
ld be focusing on?\n- Laurence suggested to streamline our work in three p
arts\n  - introduction to the virtualization and cloud technologies –\n
background and state of the art.\n  - short and medium term goals (SMG) o
r items which we think are our\nlow hanging fruit\n  - long term goals no
t necessarily be implemented in the project\nlifetime\, but they could be
used for the next generation of EMI in the\nform of position/policy statem
ents. These statements can be iterated\nby the time we learn from the real
ization of short / medium goals\n- Further notes on SMG\n  - they should
define things in simplified user stories\, such that\nthey can be taken as
a requirement or a feature request to the EMI\ndevelopers\n  - the possi
ble source are our well-known customers and also the\ntechnology folks dev
eloping in EMI\n  - one foreseeable obstacle is to decide which target en
vironment\nshould be considered for our implementation\n- Gap analysis is
in the scope of EGI\, rather than EMI.\n- As in our group we already have
a representation from the compute\nand security areas\, remaining particip
ation is from the data area. The\ngroup will contact  area lead to help.\
n- StratusLab Collaboration Effort\n  - Björn recently created a unicore
-6.4.1 over centos (single-site)\nvirtual appliance\, that can easily be d
eployed and executed on the\nstratus lab cloud. The appliance has been tes
ted with simple job\nruns.\n  - Zsombor will produce ARC's virtual applia
nce for StratusLab\nenvironment. It will be optimal to have a basic applia
nce by EGI TF.\n  - As StratusLab has already deployed gLite based virtua
l\nappliances\, we may possibly leverage their experiences to gather any\n
requirements or short comings. Furthermore\, we could also communicate\nwi
th WnodeS in this regard.\n  - How will Argus react to the virtualized mi
ddleware services?\nTheoretically it should work in a seamless manner no m
atter if the\nservices are short lived\; practically it has been not teste
 d yet.\n\nhttp://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=152431
