DESCRIPTION:NLO part by Keith Ellis\nThe implementation of top production 
 and decay processes in the parton-level Monte Carlo program MCFM is descri
 bed. By treating the top quark as being on-shell\, one can factorize the a
 mplitudes for top-pair production\, s-channel single-top production\, and 
 t-channel single-top production into the product of an amplitude for produ
 ction and an amplitude for decay. In this way one can retain all spin corr
 elations. Both the production and the decay amplitudes are calculated cons
 istently at next-to-leading order in alphas. The full dependence on the b-
 quark mass is also kept. Phenomenological results are presented for variou
 s kinematic distributions at the LHC and for the top quark forward--backwa
 rd asymmetry at the Tevatron.Event generator by Jan Winter\nParton showers
  incorporating soft colour coherence can generate a forward--backward asym
 metry in top quark pair production. The origin of this feature is discusse
 d and results of a comparison between different Monte Carlo event generato
