DESCRIPTION:The objective of the workshop is to bring together experts wor
 king on machine protection systems for accelerator facilities with high br
 illiance or large stored beam energies\, with the main focus on linear acc
 elerators and their injectors. The workshop should establish a coherent vi
 ew of failure modes and consequences for linear accelerators and review th
 e current state of the art in machine protection systems. The participants
  will benefit from the experience of colleagues who have designed\, commis
 sioned and operated such systems.\n\nThe workshop will provide input to th
 e design of machine protection systems at future accelerators\, in particu
 lar for CLIC and ILC. It also should promote synergies in the development
