DESCRIPTION:CLIC represents an attractive option for the future particle p
hysics programme at the energy frontier. CLIC is a proposed electron-posit
ron linear collider\, based on a novel two beam accelerating structure\, w
ith the capability of operating at centre-of-mass energies of up to 3 TeV.
The Physics and Detector volume of the CLIC conceptual design report was
recently published as a CERN yellow report. In this seminar\, I will revie
w the conclusions of this report\, focussing on four main areas. Firstly\,
I will give an overview of the physics potential at CLIC\, and will place
this in the context of a possible scenario for the staged construction of
the machine. Secondly\, I will discuss the challenges for a detector oper
ating in the CLIC machine environment. I will then present detailed studie
s of possible detector concepts\, based on high granularity particle flow
calorimetry\, which demonstrate that the required detector performance goa
ls at CLIC can be met. Finally\, I will highlight the main issues for the
 future R&D programme.\n\nhttp://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId
