DESCRIPTION:The observation of an excited b baryon via its strong decay in
 to Xi(b)^- pi^+ (plus charge conjugates) by the CMS experiment is reported
 . The measurement uses a data sample of pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV a
 t the LHC\, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.3 inverse femto
 barns. The known Xi(b)^- baryon is reconstructed via the decay chain Xi(b)
 ^- to J/psi Xi^- to mu^+ mu^- Lambda^0 pi^-\, with Lambda^0 to p pi^-. \n\
 nThe chi_b(nP) quarkonium states are produced in proton-proton collisions 
 at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV and recorded by the 
 ATLAS detector. Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminos
 ity of 4.4 fb^-1\, these states are reconstructed through their radiative 
 decays to Upsilon(1S\,2S) with Upsilon->mu+mu-.\n\nhttp://indico.cern.ch/c
