DESCRIPTION:Note that attendence is by invitation only.\n \nThe aims are:\
nWork towards a broad agreement among the machine and experiments on an\n"
optimistic" and a "pessimistic" scenario to define the range of likely:\n-
timescales for machine upgrades and evolution of peak and integrated lumi
.\n- likely timing and duration of shutdowns needed by machine and experim
ents to install upgrades\n\nContinue process of bringing committee up to s
peed with principle\nlines of investigation and the main issues\n\nBegin p
rocess of defining in more concrete terms the future review by LHCC of upg
 rades and R&D\nE.g.\, \n- Timescales for LoI\, MOU\, TDR\, etc.\n- Should
we make upgrades a "major" topic of activity (alongside the four major exp
eriments and LCG)? \n\nStart to build a list of informed "contact persons"
from each major constituency for\nthe purposes of future discussions/revi
ews. \n\nWe expect this to be the first in a series of approximately\nsix-
monthly one-day meetings to be conducted by the LHCC in this area.\n(This
is currently about the frequency with which the LHCC conducts \n"mini-revi
ews" of the LHC experiments and the LCG.) Whilst the focus of this\nfirst
meeting will be on the challenges that high luminosity and\nradiation lev
els place on the general purpose detectors\, future\nmeetings will address
also the special challenges that face the ALICE\nand LHCb experiments.\n\
nThe LHCC referee assignments are as follows:\nT. Wyatt(*): Overview o
f upgrade scenarios and plans for future LHCC reviews \nA. Nomerotski\, P.
Mato(*): ATLAS overview and specific projects \nV. Kekelidze\, R. Yos
hida(*): CMS overview and specific projects \nS. de Jong(*): Generic proje
cts \n\n(*) Indicates rapporteurs for the LHCC closed session report.\n\n
