DESCRIPTION:Transport and interaction of hadronic radiation \n\nThe physic
al bases for the description of medium and high energy hadron transport an
d interactions in Monte Carlo codes will be briefly reviewed. Atomic proce
sses (dE/dx\, multiple Coulomb scattering\, etc) will not be discussed in
details\, because of their similarities with those of electron and positro
ns (discussed in the second lecture).\nThe lecture will mostly concentrate
on modelling of hadron nuclear interactions.\nThe various steps customari
ly used in describing nuclear interactions\n 1) Hadron-nucleon intera
 ctions\n 2) Glauber-Gribov cascade\n 3) (Generalized) IntraNucle
 ar cascade\n 4) Preequilibrium\n 5) Evaporation/fission/fragment
ation\n 6) Gamma deexcitation\nwill be introduced and discussed mainl
y focusing on their relative role in determining final state properties of
relevance for radiation protection and dosimetry.\nExamples from real lif
e codes and comparisons with experimental data will be also presented.\n\n
