Scope

The purpose of the course is doing calculations on gas-based detectors. The programme is geared towards people who are doing, or intend to do, detailed simulations of small-scale gas-based detectors. There will be no lectures on the physics of gas-based detectors.

An optional skiing weekend follows.

Dates and Location

From Wednesday January 19th to Friday January 21st, in room 572-R-023 of the CERN training centre. Anyone understanding the room numbering scheme in this building, can safely skip this course.

Prerequisites

A good understanding of the physics of gas-based detectors and a working knowledge of Unix, ROOT and C++ are assumed.

Enrolment

There are 13 PCs and 23 seats in the room. Accordingly, there will be 20 places for participants. A skiing competition will be held on Tuesday should demand exceed capacity.

Participation is free of charge. No financial support towards travel and local expenses (accomodation, meals) will be available.

Beware that access to the CERN site is restricted.
