WP4 : Discussion on preparation of first workshop

At the recent meeting of the AIDA Steering Committee of May 31st, during the review of WP4 activities, we addressed the need of identifying technology topics that would deserve to be addressed  in academia-industry matching events along the lines of the Si-PM event that was organised by HEPTech last February (HEPTech: the Technology transfer network of institutions active in particle, astro-particle and nuclear physics).

First discussions with HEPTech and some of you have indicated that Position Sensitive Silicon Detectors could be a good candidate for a technology theme. This is clearly a theme of importance for our community for which industrial maturity of the technology is confirmed. 3-D could be addressed in a later stage when industry has reached some maturity.
Given the wide spectrum of technologies and applications related to this theme, one should probably envisage 2 or 3 academia-industry matching events to ensure that the topic is addressed properly.
