| Description |
The seminal paper "Photo-ionization and Cherenkov ring imaging", written by J. Seguinot and T. Ypsilantis thirty-five years ago, paved the way to the development of a very powerful and versatile particle identification technique. Detectors based on the Cherenkov light imaging have played a key role in several high energy physics experiments and they still represent the best choice for achieving a high quality particle discrimination in the challenging conditions of the future projects. The most significant advances and perspectives of such detectors will be reviewed. |
