Backreaction as a source for Inflation?

by Nathaniel Obadia (ENS Lyon)

at Geneva University ( Room 234 )

Description
I will consider spatially averaged inhomogeneous universe models and argue that, already in the absence of sources, an effective scalar field arises through foliating and spatially averaging inhomogeneous geometrical curvature invariants of the Einstein vacuum. I will use this scalar field to show how a period of inflation can be induced by this phenomenon and, more importantly, how initial conditions for this inflation era can be reinterpreted.
