lecture Our local anisotropic Universe and large-scale isotropy
Date/Time: Thursday, 28 June 2012 - 14:00 (Europe/Zurich)
Location: LAPTh ( LAPTh Auditorium )
Chairperson: Roya Mohayaee (IAP)
Description:
Our local Universe is anisotropic. However, on large scales the cosmic microwave background radiation data demonstrates clearly that the Universe is highly isotropic. I use the convergence to CMB dipole and also of the bulk flow of galaxies as indicators of the anisotropy. By measuring these quantities in SNe Ia (Union II data) and the galaxy redshift data (2MRS), we can determine whether and on what scales the transition to isotropy occurs and whether it is consistent with the expectation of LCDM model.
