ETICS workshop for the OMII-Europe community

Europe/Zurich
593 (CERN)

593

CERN

Rue de Meyrin CH-1211 Genève 23 Switzerland
Tomasz Kokoszka (CERN)
Description
Workshop has been postponed due to lack of participants.

In this course you will learn how to build and test applications using the ETICS Service, how to design your OMII-Europe components in the ETICS and include then into the OMII-Europe repository.

This course is suited to OMII-Europe developers, particularly to JRA members that produce software that is targeted to be available in the OMII-Europe repository.

ETICS stands for "eInfrastructure for Testing, Integration and Configuration of Software". It provides a service to help software developers, managers and users to better manage complexity and improve the quality of their software. Using Grid software and best practices, the service allows to fully automate the way a software is built and tested. In other words, ETICS provide software professionals with an "out-of-the-box" build and test system, powered with a build and test product repository.

OMII-Europe is an EU project which has been established to source key software components for Grid applications and to ensure that these components can interoperate across heterogeneous Grid middleware platforms.

To apply to attend this course, please send an e-mail confirmation to the organizers.

The event will be held in the CERN Training Center, building 593, CERN, Geneve, Rue de Meyrin (map).

There is no charge for this event, lunch will not be included (will be paid by participants) - we will go together to a restaurant at CERN (Restaurant 2, map).

Important information:

  • Registration is important as entering to the CERN area and access to the CERN computer network are limited.
  • It is required to have a personal, valid certificate signed by certificate authority recognized by EUGridPMA. Please contact your local certificate authority if you do not have the certificate yet.
The certificate has to be installed in a web-browser and available as well in .pem format (required for the ETICS command-line client).
  • It is required to bring your laptop with a wireless network adapter. Computers will NOT be provided during the event.
If you are using GNU/Linux, following packages have to be installed on your machine: Mozilla Firefox 2.x, OpenSSL.
If you are using Windows: Mozilla Firefox 2.x, an account in a GNU/Linux machine (for command line execution).
  • It is highly recommended to register your personal certificate in the ETICS (registration procedure).
  • It is highly recommended to register your laptop in the CERN network database before you arrive (registration procedure).
Please get familiar with the CERN computing rules and regulations, and fill the form putting as a contact person:
