Description
The spectacular progress in experimental cosmology over the last decade has tested the validity of the Standard Big Bang cosmology at an unprecedented level of precision.
While the numerical values of the parameters of the model are well determined, we have no real understanding leaving cosmology with major open questions like, what is dark energy, what is the origin of perturbtions, what is dark matter etc.. But the major open questions in cosmology have deep connections with fundamental physics and on-going and planned experiemnts promise to address these questions.
In summary cosmology offer a unique opportunity to use the universe as a laboratory to learn about fundamental physics, and I will illustrate this with some examples.
