Description

LinuxDays is the first IT show in French-speaking Switzerland to be dedicated to Open Source solutions. LinuxDays 2009 is the 5th edition in the series, and will take place in Geneva on June 3 - 5.

Born 25 years ago, Open Source Software is no longer a geek hobby only; on the contrary it has become a development model which has been proved and which is particularly attractive, especially with the economic crisis. All the big software vendors are producing and working with Open Source at some point, as you can see it at Microsoft or Oracle. LinuxDays are aiming at promoting Open Source solutions to businesses and organisations, by introducing the existing solutions, by animating debates, by gathering all the companies that have the best competencies for your Open Source projects. The event is open to everyone.

This year, LinuxDays are organised collaboratively with the State of Geneva, Canonical (vendor of the popular Ubuntu Linux distribution), Ernst & Young, the Linux Professionnal Institute (LPI) and the Enabling Grids for E-sciencE project (EGEE). We are expecting more than 1000 visitors and 40 conferences. Our key note speaker, Michel Rocard, ex Prime Minister of France and a strong adversary to software patents, will give a conference on Friday, June 5th at 14:00. There will also be workshops to continue the talks and ideas started in the conferences, and LPI certifications will be offered with a discount for all visitors.

This presentation will focus on the highlights of the planned event, offering attendants a glimpse of what it is to be expected.
