PTC: A Polymorphic Tracking Code

by Mr. Etienne Forest (KEK, Japan and CERN)

Thursday, 24 September 2009 from to (Europe/Zurich)
at CERN ( 6-2-024 - BE Auditorium Meyrin )
Description
PTC is made of a large number of well known ingredients and relatively
few novel ingredients (perhaps only one). My contribution was to create
a tracking instrument which combines all these ingredients into a whole
which is adequate for ring (linac) dynamics. It is very much like cooking
a dish of haute cuisine: the ingredients are known but the flavour is unique.
I do not claim that my particular attempt at combining the ingredients is
the best, but I am the first person to do so successfully. In this talk I
would like to describe the ingredients and my goal for the final product.
This talk's central purpose is to elicit discussions with people interested
to use PTC or interested in the methods used in PTC.
