Logistics
The EGEE final review will be held at CWI, Amsterdam Science park at the NIKHEF headquarters in room Z011 in building CWI.
Adress: Sciencepark 125 (see attached map).
You do not need an access card to enter the building where the review will take place, however it is important that you register for the event. More information on the Science park can be found "here".
How to reach NIKHEF/CWI
(Sciencepark 105/125 1098 XG Amsterdam)
From Amsterdam Airport (Schiphol):
Take the train from the airport to Centraal Station, there are several trains per hour. Once at the Centraal station get a "Sprinter Train" (direction Almere Lelystad) to Amsterdam Science Park. The "Sprinter train" leave from the Centraal station every 18 and 48 mins past the hour (normally platform 13b - but check). At the automatic ticket machines at the airport select the 'other station' button and type 'AM' which will bring up a short list of stations including the 'Science Park'. The cost is €4.10 one way. The journey takes 8 mins to the stop Science Park. Once you get off there is a short walk: Pass under the railway bridge, cross the bigger road, continue straight on. After about 200 m, you will find the entrance to NIKHEF at your left hand side. Continue straight on, the CWI building is on your right after about 150m.Another way is to take the train form the airport railway station to the station Amsterdam Zuid WTC From Amsterdam Zuid WTC take metro 51 (direction Centraal Station) and get out at Amstel Railway Station. From Amstel Station take the city bus number 40 in the direction Muiderpoort Station. Get off at the gate at Sciencepark 105.
From the Muiderpoort Railway Station:
Take the citybus number 40 in the direction Amstel Station Gett off at the gate at Sciencepark 105.
Another way from the Centraal Railway Station:
Take any metro line to the Amstel Railway Station and take bus 40 Or take tram 9, get out at the stop Kruislaan and take bus 40 or walk about 15 minutes.
Taxi from the airport:
The taxi ride is appoximately 45 euros for a 20 minute ride. Make sure your only take taxis from the official taxi stand.
If you come by car:
Entering the WCW area by car or motorcycle is only possible at entrance 1 (MacGillavrylaan) and entrance 3 (Matrix).
Entrance 2 (SARA) will be dedicated to pedestrians, cyclists and emergency services.
The barriers can be opened at entering by using your access pass or by taking an entry ticket at the barrier. When you are leaving, the barriers can be opened by using your access pass (“druppel”) or with an exit ticket. Exit tickets will be provided to visitors by the reception of the visited institute.
Accommodation
NIKHEF has special arrangements with the following hotels;
- "NH Tropen Hotel" single room costs 105 euros per night
- "Eden Lancaster Hotel", single room costs 99 euros per night
- "Eden Amsterdam Centre Hotel", single room costs 130 euros per night.
