DESCRIPTION:Speakers: KWIATEK\, Michal (CERN)\nOver the last years\, we ha
ve experienced a growing demand for hosting java web \napplications. At th
e same time\, it has been difficult to find an off-the-shelf \nsolution th
at would enable load balancing\, easy administration and a high level of \
nisolation between applications hosted within a J2EE server.\n\nThe archit
ecture developed and used in production at CERN is based on a linux \nclus
ter. A piece of software developed at CERN\, JPSManager\, enables easy man
agement \nof the service by following the self-management paradigm. JPSMan
ager also enables \nquick recovery in case of hardware failure. The isolat
ion between different clients \nof the service is implemented using multip
le instances of Apache Tomcat\, but the \narchitecture is open and a diffe
rent J2EE server can be incorporated if necessary. \nThis paper describes
this architecture in detail and analyses its advantages and \nlimitations.
Examples of HEP related applications\, which make use of this\narchitectu
 re\, are also given.\n\nhttp://indico.cern.ch/contributionDisplay.py?contr
