 cs\, particularly when it decays into non-SM particles.  One promising exa
 mple is the decay of a top quark into a charged Higgs boson and b-quark. C
 harged Higgs bosons occur naturally in extended Higgs sectors and for a wi
 de range of models can decay nearly exclusively into a tau lepton and a ne
 utrino. In this talk\, we summarize the searches for tau leptons from SM t
 op quark pair production and decay\, and their interpretation as a probe o
 f physics beyond the standard model using the ATLAS detector.\n\nhttp://in
