 der project ILC is in a very active R&D phase where\ncurrently three diffe
 rent detector concepts are developed in international working\ngroups. In 
 order to investigate and optimize the different detector concepts and\nthe
 ir physics potential it is highly desirable to have flexible and easy to u
 se\nsoftware tools. In this talk we present Marlin\, a modular C++ applica
 tion framework\nfor the ILC. Marlin is based on the international data for
 mat LCIO and allows the\ndistributed development of reconstruction and ana
 lysis software. Marlin is used\nthroughout the european ILC community to d
 evelop reconstruction algorithms for the\nILC based on the so called Parti
