DESCRIPTION:Speakers: HINZMANN\, Andreas (III. Physikalisches Institut A\,
RWTH Aachen University\, Germany)\nVISPA (Visual Physics Analysis) is a n
ovel development environment to support physicists in prototyping\, execut
ion\, and verification of data analysis of any complexity. The key idea of
VISPA is developing physics analyses using a combination of graphical and
textual programming. In VISPA\, a multipurpose window provides visual too
ls to design and execute modular analyses\, create analysis templates\, an
d browse physics event data at different steps of an analysis.\nVISPA aims
at supporting both experiment independent and experiment specific analysi
s steps. It is therefore designed as a portable analysis framework\, suppo
rting Linux\, Windows and MacOS\, with its own data format including physi
cs objects and containers\, thus allowing easy transport of analyses betwe
en different computers. All components of VISPA are designed for easy inte
gration with experiment specific software to enable physics analysis withi
n the same graphical tools.\nVISPA has proven to be an easy-to-use and fle
xible development environment in high energy physics as well as in astropa
rticle physics analyses. In this talk\, we present applications of advance
d physics analyses\, and thereby explain the underlying software concepts.
