DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Dr. BUDD\, Howard (University of Rochester)\nMINERvA
  is a few-GeV neutrino-nucleus scattering experiment\,\nstationed in the h
igh intensity NuMI beam line at Fermilab. It has been\ntaking data since t
he fall of 2009. MINERvA aims to make precise\nmeasurements of low energy
neutrino interactions\, both in support of\nneutrino oscillation experimen
ts and as a pure weak probe of the nuclear\nmedium. The experiment employs
a fine-grained\, high resolution detector.\nIt is composed of plastic sci
ntillator with additional carbon\, iron\, lead\,\nwater and liquid helium
targets placed upstream of the active region. We\npresent the design of th
e detector and the quality control during the\nproduction phase of its com
ponents. We also discuss the performance of the\ndetector. MINERvA has als
o conducted a test beam run to understand the\nenergy response of the dete
ctor design\, using a smaller prototype of the\nneutrino detector. This te
st beam run is also described here.\n\nhttp://indico.cern.ch/contributionD
