  Dear CHIPP colleagues,
CHIPP logo The 2014 annual gathering of CHIPP, the Swiss Institute for Particle Physics, will take place in Fribourg from June 30 to July 2, 2014. This three-day conference includes a meeting of the CHIPP Board, the 2014 Plenary meeting of the CHIPP association, the award ceremony of the CHIPP prize, as well as a number of sessions of the ``CHIPP PhD/Postdoc days'', where the young members of CHIPP get a chance to present their research work, either in short talks or posters.
This year, for the first time, the annual gathering of CHIPP is held in the framework of the annual meeting of the Swiss Physical Society (SPS). At this occasion the CHIPP PhD/Postdoc days are merged with the so-called TASK parallel sessions of the SPS, and all participants are encouraged to attend the SPS plenary sessions.
During this three-day conference, a number events organized by CHIPP and/or SPS will take place to commemorate the 60th anniversary of CERN, including a public conference on the discovery of the Higgs boson, historical posters on the scientific contributions of Swiss institutes and groups to the CERN research programme, the exhibition of the interactive LHC tunnel, a speech from the CERN Director General Rolf Heuer, and a panel discussion with special guests on the impact of CERN on Switzerland and its society.
Don't miss the registration deadline of June 1, 2014. I look forward to meeting you all in Fribourg and wish us a pleasant and interesting joint CHIPP/SPS annual meeting.
