DESCRIPTION:\n The general subject of the workshop is quantum gravity\,
in its mathematical and formal aspects\, in its physical applications\, i
n particular in the context of cosmology\, and its conceptual and epistemo
logical ramifications. More precisely\, this workshop is going to cover th
e following topics:\n - Categorical ideas and methods in quantum gravit
y\,\n - Thermodynamical aspects of classical and quantum gravity\, incl
uding the thermal time hypothesis\,\n - Effective models of quantum gra
vity and quantum cosmology\,\n - Philosophy of space and time and epist
emological aspects of quantum gravity.\n The workshop will set the fram
ework for new collaborations between researchers working on such fundament
al issues\, as well as strengthening the ties among research institutes in
