The 4th International Conference on Particle and Fundamental Physics in Space (SpacePart12) will take place at CERN from November 5th to November 7th, 2012.
The previous three SpacePart conferences were in Isola d'Elba (Italy, 2002), Washington DC (US, 2003) and Beijing (China, 2006) and have been very successful in bringing together space scientists and space policy makers from around the world, for very fruitful, effective exchange of views on the developments of space related science and technology programs.
SpacePart 2012 takes place during the 100th anniversary of the discovery of Cosmic Rays, followed by the birth of particle physics and, later on, of CERN. It will be a unique opportunity to review the status of the study of cosmic radiation on the year of the discovery of the Higgs boson.
The conference will focus on a limited number of key topics keeping the format of the previous conferences, namely 3 days of invited talks subdivided into topical sessions and a final round table concluding the conference.
Scientific topics of SpacePart12 will be:
1) the 100th anniversary of Cosmic Ray discovery
2) status and open issues linking particle physics and the observation of the universe
3) the multimessenger universe
4) the dark universe
5) the cosmic origins
6) space as laboratory for fundamental physics
7) new space technologies and applications
8) national vs international programs and strategies
The scientific program will be reviewed by the International Advisory Committee and will include several invited talks of leading scientists, as well as of policy makers from national/international agencies and from the space community. The conference programme on Indico will be available soon.
We look forward to welcoming you at CERN.
