Description
Top-quark physics provides us with a portal to potential physics beyond the Standard Model. To date, the only sign of an anomaly in top-quark observables is the large forward-backward asymmetry observed in inclusive top-pair production at the Tevatron. Novel information about the charge asymmetry can be obtained from investigating top-pair production in association with an energetic jet. I present two new observables, named incline asymmetry and energy asymmetry, that provide access to the charge asymmetry in both the quark-antiquark and quark-gluon channels. The prospects to measure these asymmetries at hadron colliders are discussed for the Tevatron and for the LHC in its 8 TeV and 14 TeV runs.
