Description
We derive a lower bound on the entropy of boundary states in a class of two-dimensional conformal field theories by a simple application of the linear functional method. The bound holds for gapped unitary theories with central charge greater than one. By including the first few states of the bulk spectrum, one can obtain information on the boundary spectrum and multiplicities that a boundary state satisfying the bound should have.
