Single room price is 58CHF/night, double room 77CHF/night. ******* Excursion to Chamonix is included in the conference fee, just register so that we can organize the transports accordingly. ******* Chamonix – Mont Blanc: Is it still necessary to present Chamonix, "Cham" for the 'connaisseurs'? One of the world's most visited places, center for hikers, beautiful landscapes and the Mont Blanc of course! Chamonix is like CERN… hikers from all around the world, of all levels can get together, compare their experiences and try new ones, the summit being Mont Blanc, 4811m. We propose to you an excursion to jump into this world on Wednesday afternoon after the morning session; with a sandwich lunch and departure for Chamonix by bus. In Chamonix, you have the possibility either to visit by yourself the town (useful information in : http://www.chamonix.com/welcome,0,en.html ), or you have the possibility to register to go up to Aiguille du Midi with the cable-car http://www.compagniedumontblanc.co.uk/en/site-overview/aiguille-du-midi . In case of bad weather (rain/fog) the excursion to Aiguille du Midi is replaced by getting to "La Mer de Glace": http://www.compagniedumontblanc.co.uk/en/site-overview/montenvers-mer-de-glace Both tours take in total 2-3 hours. In case of thunder, none of the activities can take place. In the evening, we get together for a typical local dinner and get back to CERN around midnight. The excursion and the dinner are included in the basic conference fee, For the cable-car you need to register separately as we need to book the places. Aiguille du Midi is not recommended if you suffer of vertigo.
