We consider an anisotropic fluid which arises in a gravity system with a linearly varying dilaton. We find that some components of the shear viscosity, when compared to the entropy density, become parametrically small close to extremality. We formulate fluid mechanics for anisotropic systems in general and discuss some consequences of the anomalously small viscosity.
