Description

SPECIAL ATS SEMINAR

The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) operates the 2.5 GeV synchrotron radiation source ANKA. A linac-based accelerator test facility, FLUTE, for the generation of femtosecond electron bunches is currently under construction. The portfolio of accelerator technologies at KIT includes amongst other topics the development of superconducting insertion devices, the development of ultra-fast radiation detectors from the X-ray to the THz regime, as well as the research on high data-throughput data acquisition systems for beam diagnostics with MHz repetition rates. The combination of a flexible electron storage ring lattice, allowing for quasi-isochronous operation, with cutting-edge beam diagnostics technologies, e.g., turn-by-turn electro-optical detection of the longitudinal bunch profile, opens new windows for the study of short bunch beam dynamics. This talk introduces the activities in the field of accelerator science and technology and gives and overview of technologies and methods available at KIT for accelerator R&D.
