Event Description

CIEMAT, in collaboration with HEPTech, EUCARD2, CDTI, GSI and EEN is pleased to invite you to the first workshop on “Superconductivity for accelerators for medical applications".

In our everyday environment, compact superconducting accelerators produce short-life radionucleides to make diagnoses and proton and ion beams to treat tumours by hadrontherapy. Superconductivity has hence become a key technology of particle accelerators, helping their progress and taking advantage of their development.

Experienced researchers and leading companies in the field of superconductivity will gather at CIEMAT to explore the technical challenges emerging from the design of new accelerator machines and to match them with state-of-the-art medical solutions.

The scope of this workshop is to bring together experts from different fields like superconductivity magnets, cryogenics, medical physicist as well as representative from industry to discuss and review the current status, the requirement and technical challenges. The workshop should foster interactions amongst people in various labs, institutions and industry.

The programme focuses on three main areas of expertise:

  • Radioisotope production
  • Particle therapy
  • Gantries

Scientific presentations, Industry talks and Q&A sessions will be intertwined to maximize knowledge exchange opportunities between researchers and commercial partners.

For more information please contact AIME-SCMedApp2016@cern.ch.

The event is a B2B matchmaking where bilateral meeting are scheduled according to each participant availability, interests and goals to find international business and technology partners.

Registration in mandatory and without fee.
