Biweekly meeting of the DOSAR VO Meeting pin 2014

We held our last meeting on Tuesday, October 4.  In attendance were Horst, Kyle, Rob and Dick.  

Rob described conversations he has had recently with Bruce Becker; experience with RDA schools and Software Carpentry; upcoming big Educause annual conference Oct 25-28.  Also, we decided that a publication in “Open Data and African Research”  is not a good fit for DOSAR and will not be pursued.

 

Suggested as future items for DOSAR to explore:

1) extensive use of local Africa grid resources  in our African grid school

2) incorporate DOSAR involvement in Software Carpentry in software aspects of future ASP curricula

3) Involve DOSAR in future Research Data Alliance (RDA) workshops, (Rob, Kyle, plus a few more of us): upcoming Data Science Schools at Univ. of Southern California in June 2017, Trieste in July and Sao Paulo, Dec. 2017.

 

We decided to hold our next meeting after the OSG Council meeting to be held on October 27-28.

Our next meeting will be on November 1.
