Freiburg has got a large number of possibilities for accomodation, 135 of them in a radius of 5 km. They range from a very basic hostel for 14€ per night (no joke!) up to our best house where you can get rooms starting from 198€.
A good possibility to find a suitable place for you is to use the web site www.freiburg.de/servlet/PB/menu/1174334_l2/index.html. There you can search with different criteria like distance or price and even do online booking for some of them. Look for the distance from the Old Town or from the University (which does not mean the Science Campus but is 5 to 10min away from the Campus!) to get a feeling how far your choice is away from our place.
The Hotel which is really the closest one (2 streets away) is "Hotel Atlanta". The next one is probably the "City Hotel" (5 min walk).
Two good ones that we often use to book for our invited guests are "Hotel Am Rathaus" or "Hotel Victoria".
Be aware: Hotels in the Old City (which is mainly a pedestrian zone) are sometimes difficult to reach by car. There is also no free parking in all of the inner city of Freiburg. This is also true for the "Natural Science Campus" where our meeting takes place. Third almost all of Freiburg belongs to the environmental "green zone" where you need a special sticker to enter (see page "How to get to the meeting"). So I recommend you to walk (for small distances) or use public transportation (for larger distances) in Freiburg!
