\f1\fs28 \cf3 Dear DB TEG people,\
\
\'a0 this is a reminder of tomorrow's EVO discussion on the organization of our workshop on 7-9 November and a few other topics. Find the connection instructions on the indico page:\
\pard\pardeftab720\ql\qnatural
{\field{\*\fldinst{HYPERLINK "https://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=159928"}}{\fldrslt \cf4 \ul \ulc4 https://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=159928}}\
\
\'a0 Here follow a few proposals (for discussion tomorrow) on the workshop layout and aims:\
\
\pard\pardeftab720\ql\qnatural

\f2\i\b \cf3 1) Monday 7 November: Conditions data, COOL, CORAL, Frontier and database replication and remote access issues\
\pard\pardeftab720\ql\qnatural

\f1\i0\b0 \cf3 \
\pard\pardeftab720\ql\qnatural

\f3\i \cf3 We can have 2 blocks, one on CondDB/COOL/CORAL and one on remote DB access, with coffee break in-between.\'a0
\f1\i0 \

\f3\i \
In each block we can have at most one talk per experiment and one or two talks from CERN-IT and/or sites.\
\pard\pardeftab720\ql\qnatural

\f1\i0 \cf3 \
\pard\pardeftab720\ql\qnatural

\f2\i\b \cf3 2) Tuesday 8 November: Relational and NoSQL databases for distributed applications, requirements and deployment models\
\pard\pardeftab720\ql\qnatural

\f1\i0\b0 \cf3 \
\pard\pardeftab720\ql\qnatural

\f3\i \cf3 Same as above, we can have in the whole session one or two talks per experiment (perhaps one on operation experience with Oracle and one on NoSQL tests and/or plans, if any) and from CERN and site people.\
\
Note also that on Tuesday 8 November morning Tony Cass is organising a talk+discussion on Oracle NoSQL. (Tony, is this confirmed?).\
\pard\pardeftab720\ql\qnatural

\f1\i0 \cf3 \
\pard\pardeftab720\ql\qnatural

\f2\i\b \cf3 3) Wednesday 9 November: Usage, evolution and requirements of Online Databases\
\pard\pardeftab720\ql\qnatural

\f1\i0\b0 \cf3 \
\pard\pardeftab720\ql\qnatural

\f3\i \cf3 Same again, one talk per experiment and from CERN-IT. Online people from the experiments should be explicitly involved, as not all experiments have integrated online-offline software organisations.\
\pard\pardeftab720\ql\qnatural

\f1\i0 \cf3 \
\'a0 In general we should assume that people are familiar with the talks at the Database Futures workshop and nothing (or as little as possible to make talks meaningful) is repeated. If people are not familiar they can look at the slides; we can add a pointer to the agenda page. All presentations should not use more than 50% of the allotted time so we can have meaningful discussions.\
\
\'a0 All talks should aim at presenting the work that is being done in the given area and the plans for the medium-term (2012) and long-term (2014) future. They should also highlight the possibility to use common tools and the needs in terms of hardware and new software deployment.\
\
\'a0 The discussion slot at the end of Wednesday afternoon should be used to draw a few first conclusions and define which topics need to be followed up in order to have a coherent picture of the evolution of DB needs by LHC experiments.\
\
\'a0 See, or hear, you tomorrow\
