Fly to Madrid and then take a high speed train from the Atocha railway station to Ciudad Real; the travel time is one hour.

From Atocha railway station (Atocha Renfe) to Ciudad Real:

To buy the train ticket online, go to: http://www.renfe.es and http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/index.html
Select:
From: Madrid;
To: Ciudad Real
and the dates.

The search will return all possible connections, indicating: Type of Train, Departure Time, Arrival Time, Duration of the journey, Category and Prices.

There are two types of trains: AVANT and AVE. They take the same time but AVANT is cheaper than AVE: an AVANT two-way ticket is about 41€ and AVE about 60€.

From the Airport to Atocha railway station (Atocha Renfe):

If you fly to terminal T4 you can take a commuter train (it is called a cercanías train). It leaves every 30 minutes from T4 and it takes 26 minutes to Atocha Renfe. You can check the timetable at http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/cercanias/madrid/index.html

This train is free if you have an AVANT or AVE ticket.

You can also go by underground (Metro – 2€) or Taxi (about 30€).

If you fly to other Terminals (T1, T2 or T3), you need to take the metro and a commuter train or a Taxi (also about 30€)

By metro : Take line 8 until the last stop that is Nuevos Ministerios and then take a commuter train (cercanías) to Atocha Renfe (Line 1 of the metro)
