Description
A search for a Higgs boson decaying into a Z boson and a photon using a dataset recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 and 8 TeV will be presented. Limits are set on the cross section of a standard model Higgs boson decaying to opposite-sign electron or muon pairs and a photon. Future analysis on dileptons plus a photon and photon plus missing energy will also be discussed. Bio: Mayda Velasco was born in Puerto Rico and received her BS in Physics at the University of PR. She was a pre-medical student when she came to FNAL for a summer-internship in 1988 as a FNAL/URA pre-doctoral Fellow. Mayda received her Ph.D. at the Northwestern University in 1995 with the Ph.D. topic "Spin crisis of the Proton" confirming that only 30% of the nucleon spin is due to the quarks. In 1996 she became a CERN Postdoctoral Fellow and later Research Staff, working on NA48 (1st observation of Br(Ks-->pi0mumu)~10^-9) and NA59 Experiments (she's a co-spokesperson of the latter since 1998. She also showed that aligned crystals can be used as quarter-wave plates for 100 GeV photons). In 1999, Mayda became an Assistant Professor at Northwestern University and joined the CMS collaboration in 2005, the year she became an Associate Professor at Northwestern. In CMS, she convened multiple groups such as HCAL Calibration, HCAL Detector Performance, and Prompt Feedback Groups. Mayda's physics analyses research is focused, but not limited to, on low-pT QCD studies (e.g. double parton scattering), low mass Higgs boson searches (both SM and SUSY) in multiple channels, and heavy Higgs decaying to ZZ to four leptons. Mayda is a recipient of numerous Awards and Fellowships.
