Root meeting
Present: the ROOT meeting, Peter, Marco, Andreas, John, Pere, Benedikt, Andrea, Aleandro Alvarez Ayllon (working with Andrea on CORAL/Cool)
ACTIONS:
o The ROOT Team: prepare a high quality ROOT6 beta release
Minutes:
o No actions open from last week
Peter:
o The master is broken for Alice. It's an issue which was linked to a faulty fix of Philippe, now reverted. The new fix should flow in today.
Valeri:
o Valeri will try to set up a build with ROOT6
o Migration to ROOT6: in the agenda for 2014 (according to Sebastien)
Marco:
o Make a release of LHCb software when the beta is out
Bill:
o All relocation issues have been fixed
o Some investigation may be left about the classes checksums
o There is a patch cms is applying to root: it's experimental code not ready for primetime.
Andrea:
o Aleandro will start working on CORAL/Cool
o Inline ASM is now worked around thanks to a patch to boost by Benedikt possible after an in-depth analysis by Andrea
o No support for ASM is a BLOCKER since LHCb cannot adopt this version of boost
o The testsuite is very extensive: usage of namespaces and typedefs
o Cool tests are being run daily: http://lcgapp.cern.ch/spi/cgi-bin/nightly.py
o They can be monitor in the test slot
All:
o Duplication of dictionaries: it should be treated as errors.
o An idea to improve the system is to introduce a sort of checksum of the dictionaries to track from where the dictionaries are from, and if they are not consistent.
o Next meeting we will make the point about the snapshot release.
